I wish healthy food didn't cost so much!

Healthy food usually cost more, and I have been trying to eat healthier. Fruits are expensive. I'm just glad there is a grocery store that is cheaper near me that I can buy food from. The fruits and milk are the lowest I have ever seen at any grocery store around me. I save more than half every time I shop there. The only problem is that this grocery store does not have everything that I eat, so I occasionally have to go to other grocery stores to buy food. Usually I only buy items from the major grocery stores that the cheaper grocery store does not have. Occasionally I will use coupons, but usually I don't because I can just buy another brand that is cheaper. I will use coupons whenever I am going to buy the food or drink anyway, to save on my grocery bills.

We also wish that. It's clear to me governments do not care about the health of people otherwise they would not drive these prices so sky high. No need to do so in many cases.. since a lot is thrown away esp. if farmers come with a lot of it (know it by experiences I worked over there). It's a big shame (but big income as well for shops, the vat etc etc). Unhealty food is the cheapest food! We don't have coupons over here. I save on drinks (we mainly drink water and green tea), I buy fruit (of the season is most cheapest) and vegetables, nearly no meat/chicken etc, no bread, pasta, potatoes, etc so that saves and no cookies, candies etc.

I can get fresh food reasonably cheap ifI buy what is in season. In my country we have a lot of fruit in Summer, but there`s less in other times of the year. The rest of the year, I buy pineapple and bananas. I make juices on a blender and I don`t have to put a lot of fruit. I can also add berries (I always freeze some on season). But my main source of fresh produce are veggies. They are a lot cheaper and I crow some in my own garden even in containers. For me, the difference between cheap and expensive is mostly about working more or buying food already prepared.

I love to eat fruits but there are very expensive here. I am glad for you that you could grow your own veggies in your garden. It is not only fresh but tastier and healthier [em]thumbup[/.em].

I am glad that you can get fresh food cheap, because in my area it is not cheap at all. My grocery bill almost doubled when I started buying fruits.

We have very mild winters so I can even grow lettuce, chard and arugule in my own garden. They don`t take up so much space and I can have what I need without having to buy it.

I agree with you o2bnocn! I, too, try to eat healthier and I find that, particularly in the winter here, getting fresh fruit and vegetables at any reasonable price is ridiculous. The worst of it is when you do spend the money and the food itself tastes awful. Tomatoes, lettuce, berries, etc., have so little taste or texture in the winter months, even though they are imported.

I agree with you. Fruits and veggies are ridiculous at times. I am going to start paying attention the prices more often, and buy fruits when they are cheaper.

When you try to eat healthy it is very expensive. If the healthy organic foods were cheaper there would be more people eating healthier diets. Then we wouldn't be having such an obesity problem. I thankfully grow alot of my fruits and veggie year round. So I am able to eat the healthy foods but so many people don't have the opportunity to have this because they live in a cold climate. I love going to my backyard to get fruits and veggie and not having to buy the garbage that they have in the stores.

I agree with you. I try to find healthy food that is a decent price. Cooking at home can save a lot of money.

i can walk to the stores and market here and i don't mind if they're priced higher because i save time and energy compared to taking public transpo to the bigger supermarket, going through all the aisles, lining up to pay, then public transpo again to get home, then washing, sorting and putting them all away. many dishes here start with garlic, onion, tomato or ginger and i still buy a lot even if they're expensive. i still buy fruits and veggies like broccoli and cauliflower, even peanuts in a shell for boiling. what i don't buy are dried/salted seafood, processed and breaded frozen food, and junkfood.

Prices of groceries had gone up recently. We are just buying normal food. When something got more expensive, we go for a cheaper brand. The quality of food we get is actually getting lower and lower. This is very sad. Food is a necessity and it has become a burden. If you're talking about healthy food, organic produce or food stuff is never cheap.

I agree with you that I wish that healthy food didn't cost so much either. Many big extravagant dishes that you can make that are healthy require a lot of ingredients and when you have more fruits and vegetables you can make a greater variety of things to keep your food interesting as well. I find that if I spend a strong majority of my grocery funds on fruits and vegetables though I can get a lot of groceries. It is meats, grains, and dairy products that are the most expensive things and it's even harder to buy these products natural or organic. Most meats are treated with some kind of preservative so that way the meat's color doesn't begin to turn colors. These preservatives such as sodium nitrite and sodium nitrate are not good for you at all and I would rather just not eat meat than eat meat that contains these substances in them.

In these days, due to the economical and financial situations, my family can't really afford really healthy food. I mean, of course, we buy fruits and vegetables, and try to buy non-fatty meats, but no way we are going to be able to buy all the bio and eco-friendly and organic products, which are like 3 times more expensive as the average ones. Or we're not able to buy the more expensive, more nutritional salami or ham, just the ones which may have a lot of added stuff.

Healthy food does not always mean costly food. We can get our food at a cheaper price if we buy them in their harvesting season. Because seasonal fresh fruits or veggies are available abundantly in their harvesting season. We can store store seasonal food for eating the rest of the year as well. Apart from these we should eat seasonal stuff a lot. Because eating seasonal fruit seasonally is linked to having the highest and best benefit from those stuff. Stay well

I know that healthy food isn't cheap. That's why I grow my own.I have a garden with apple trees , tomattos, cucambers and many other stuff. It's cheap to grow them if you have a space. If you don't you can grow some of them in pots.

To get healthy life we should follow our grandfather.what you have mentioned is correct, healthy food is not costly as compared to modern food.Day by day our food is getting worst in case of protein.many products as lot of chemical and they are making crop in artificial manner by using chemicals. In our country lot of lands where crops are being cultivated has been destroyed due to the industrial purpose. most of the city people likes to buy plastics covered product, they are not showing much interest to buy health food which has more protein.

Yeah, it will be wonderful if the healthy food are not expensive. I love to eat healthy food but it is expensive here too. So, I would not be able to buy all those healthy food always. I left with no other choice but to have it in combination and within my means.

I completely agree.i prefer to buy healthier food and cook meals from scratch but by the time you've bought everything for the week,it gets expensive.my main concern is making sure my 2 kids eat healthy but its not always easy.there is so much hype about eating healthy these days from the government etc but the prices don't help.

I do go to grocery store which is nearby, and try to look out for exciting offers. Some are good, but mostly these are on the non-helthier foods, which i indulge in sometimes. rarely do i see good deals on the healthier foods and these are costly, seriously costly...i wish these came in at a cheap price.

Hi friend,I hope so, the healthy foods do not expensive. But, the real condition in the market show that the healthy is expensive, because the farmer is difficult to product the healthy food, they should keep the crops from pesticides and other fertilizer that harmful our health. other than reason, supermarket that provide healthy food take high profit to cover tax expense, so healthy food be has high price. But if you can find healthy foods from grocery that offer cheaper. it is a good idea if you take this tip, using coupon also help you, i often using coupon to reduce my expense. Have a nice day.
