FINALLY! Some Recognition!

John told me earlier that work is so busy now that the printing machines will be printing 24 hours a day, up until next Thursday at least. The printer guys are even coming in on Bank Holiday Monday to stop things sliding behind as there are deadlines to be met..unheard of in these trying times.
John is also being rewarded for his efforts. A 2% pay rise come the end of this week. No-one else is getting this so he has to keep quiet about it, although the workforce SHOULD get a cost of living rise in April. They haven't had one for about 4 years so one is due. John will get this as well. I'm so pleased for him.
The next bonus is definitely ON. Should bloody well think so, there would be a riot on their hands if they missed out yet again, especially with all this continuous work on at the moment.
Recognition is all John wanted..and he's got it, primarily to stop him leaving like some of his workmates already have done, I'm sure.

You have always known he was quality, and it is a good thing that the company is recognizing this as well.

Isn't it a shame about the job market, that would really leave them up shite creek without a paddle if he left! Sadly you cannot cut your nose to spite your face, as tempting as it sounds. Still 2% is better than nothing I suppose, although he's worth more than ten times that amount to them! He truly deserves the recognition and some! On the scale of things the way prices are going up, petrol etc, 2% will not be the equivalent!

They're all due a cost of living rise though..plus the tax threshold is going up to 9,000+ and that will help too. Gotta stay positive my friend, it's the only way.

It's not easy to get recognition in a number of companies these days. Probably because the bosses are too busy getting rich. I've heard someone say "Unsuccessful people ignore. Successful people give compliments". This sounds about right because most of the successful people I know really don't care about getting more rich. They care about bringing other people up to their level and making them rich like them. Although there are also some who are too greedy to remain rich. They wanna be a billionaire or something. I'm even convinced that they want to own the whole world.

John isn't a greedy person and only wants a bit extra on top of what he's earning, nothing more.

Hi,
Congratulations to both of you ! John must be happy as his hard work got a reward. When we get appreciation or reward for our efforts we can work more effectively. He must be honest in work because no one else is getting such reward. He wanted recognition and finally he got it. Be happy and enjoy.

I'm so pleased for him as I've always known he's a very good worker..extremely loyal for a start. Whilst his 'friends' have left him in the lurch he's carried on regardless, steadying the ship, so to speak. His bosses have recognised this (finally) and he's being rewarded...at last!

Great!
Like the song Seven and a Half Cents from the musical Pajama Game, it "isn't such a heck of a lot but it's more than what [he's] got."

That is wonderful news. Finally getting the recognition he deserves. Employees love to be taken care of the right way by their bosses when they are working above and beyond the call of duty. So many employers don't think about their employees at all. Its a shame that the company depends so much on one guy. For the place to come to a standstill because one guy is out is ridiulous.

I was worried he was about to have a nervous breakdown or something and when he says 'don't worry' to me, I do the opposite lol. I love him after all and care about his welfare at work..and, finally, the powers that be are recognising the fact that if he left they'd be in deep do-do!

Yey!
You can never underestimate the power of a pay increase (even a small one) in making an employee stay, or keeping one motivated to work even with increasing workload.
This is the line I keep saying to myself too, as I think I'm due for an increase very soon.
Congratulations to John!

That sounds like great news. You should be proud of your husband. Hard work always pays off in the end. And getting a raise is always a good thing. I remember those days when I was rewarded for doing a god job. Although raises were few and far between. Good luck to your husband for this accomplishment.

It is great news, especially to John's bank balance. He's not a greedy person..just wants a bit of recognition and - finally, he has it.
So proud of him.

John's company seems to do a roaring trade.May well say that it is rare during the economic recession.John deserves to get that.He is so dedicated and always has his hands full. The company did so just in acknowledge of his work for the company.Of course you can't rule out the possibility that the company managed to win over John .

I know that no-one is indispensable within companies and John knows this more than anyone. However, he also knows that, without him, they'd be stuck lol. He remains loyal despite others leaving and the bosses realise this. He could've left through frustration (which is something I would've done to be honest) but stayed.

I'm happy for him Janey. 2% isn't a lot but it is a show of support and added with the cost of living raise, that is a GOOD thing. I'm sure they don't want to lose him.

He's off tomorrow (Good Friday of course but others will have to go in to maintain production) but it's looking highly likely he'll be in on Saturday morning..which won't be so bad as he'll be back home by the time I'm up.
You're right though, no, they DON'T want to lose him. He's one of their best workers by far.

an honest and hardworking employee is hard to have and i'm sure that his boss thought this way about your John. at least the late nights paid off. i'm glad for you that he's not thinking about leaving anymore. it's hard to look for good and high paying jobs these days. it is hard to adjust to a new working environment too.

John has had to adapt to changes within that company. People leaving hasn't helped either as it's out of his hands. He also has to train any new people that come in, and that takes time.

All the workforce should get the cost of living rise. With John's extra 2% on top - well, every little helps doesn't it my friend?

This sounds like good news. The fact that they have lots of work is really good. Sounds like that they are learning from their mistakes, having lost too many people.
Feeling valued is important, it really increases confidence, and makes people work better. Strange how there are so many people who don't realise this, when its so obvious.

Yes, I have said this all along. John isn't one of those people that wants LOADS of extra money, he just wants what he's worth, if that makes sense. I agree with you that it's so obvious what needed to be done and it's taken so long for them to do it.
