You will earn here for everything that YOU do, so starting discussions, responding in other people's discussions and commenting in your own and other people's discussions will all be worthwhile, so long as what you write is something of quality, is descriptive and adds something to the discussion. Understanding the Guidelines is very important because anything which goes against the Guidelines will usually be removed so it's important to know what discussions are likely to be valid and what are likely to be removed before you respond to them.
