Its that old age saying, you get what you pay for.
I have had 4 Chinese tablets recently. Well I bought them in for people that wanted them is what I mean. They are your typical cheap quality, cheap hardware pieces of well hardware. They aren't the same build quality or same spec as a Nexus or highly reputable branded device. Out of the 4 I have had to do the annoying task of either upgrading firmware (okay its not annoying its actually extremely simple) or send 3 of them back. It is also alot harder to get actual support and assistance with a Chinese tablet. Mostly because they are generic and unbranded. What looks the same as another tablet could be completely different. As an example two of the A13 'Chinese' tablets I bought in for people they were identical right down to one thing. The graphics driver for the touchscreen. But hell if I could get fully working firmware updates for that one tablet. In the end I just sent it back to the seller and got a refund I was that frustrated with it.
If You want something though you don't care if it breaks and won't set you back a fortune I'd say go with the unbranded Chinese tablet. Can't give you a price for the Philippines but here in the UK I got mine for about £45-£50 including postage for a 7" 4GB tablet. Compare that to Nexus 32GB 7" tablet costing between £190 - 260. Thats a hell of a difference. But again you'll end up getting what you pay for.
One word of caution you can't move apps / games etc to the micro sd card without a great deal of problems and hassle (atleast not with the Chinese tablets you can't). Its do-able in alot of cases just very annoying. So just note that if you go with that option because rushing out to buy a 8GB SD card or above, won't do much good unless its for storing movies, music, videos etc
I have friends who have a Chinese tablet and have had them for over a year and its been working no problems at all so sometimes you may be lucky.
Goodluck

It depends on your budget.. if you have a budget for an ipad then go for it. It is a quality one that will last long.. anways I have a cheap tablet I bought mine in a mall last december and I am loving it.. the only concern I have is the battery because it doesn't last long.. I can only used it for 3-4 hours depending on what you do to it.. internet or just playing games..

Yeah. Thanks for commenting. What is that tablet? What do you use it for? I don't mind about the battery, 3-4 hours is good for me. How much did you pay?

I'm planning to buy a Samsung Galaxy Tab without the phone capability. This is about Php10,000. In my case, I'm just interested in its WIFI capability and I plan to use it to browse the internet and check up on my blogs to see how they appear in mobile devices. And hopefully, I also want to use them for presentations especially if I can connect it somehow to a projector.
I haven't explored cheaper brands because a quality device for my Android programming activities. I'll be using it for a long time.

I think I would also go for Samsung Galaxy Tab if given a chance. However, as of now I would defer buying this thing because I still have other things to consider.
Have a wonderful day!

I agree that the Nexus 7 is a good tablet, it's sleek and powerful enough and in my opinion reasonably price. I suggest that you check Philippine based buy and sell sites like sulit, ayosdito and tipidpc. You can find great deals for both new and used tablets at a great price compared to the prices at the malls.

Thanks for commenting. What other tablets can I choose from with the same quality and price as nexus 7?

It seems the Samsung Galaxy Tab (WIFI only version) is cheaper than the Nexus 7. The Samsung tablet is selling for less than Php10,000. And from internet sources, it seems the Nexus 7 is selling for more than that.

Hello friends.
If you really want to buy a good and smart tablet then go for SONY XPERIA Z
This tablet is awesome, design is very slim and totally glossy, its water proof so you can use under shower or outside.
Its dust proof and have many feature so what you need more in a tablet. Do not go for any other company.

It's not even released yet...
Well atleast not in the UK, not due to be released until the end of May. The price I read on a few sites will start at £399 for a 'basic wifi only model'. Dunno about you, but I'd rather spend that amount of money on something truly worthwhile not a tablet...
The next model up is about £599 I think .. No idea how much it will be in the Philippines but I would expect it to be fairly similar.

I think you must choose the internetional band of good tablet if you ask for advance. That of Hewlett Packard may be is better for I have used it for a long time.

I believe Apple's iPad is still my preferred choice and I felt that it would be good to have a change from the mundane Android OS or Windows8 tablets for a change. The culture is entirely different and I have to say that it needs a little open mindedness here.
I am sure it will depend on what you really want to do with it to determine your final decision. For me, I am more on the lighter side of owning a tablet so portability and versatility is on the top of my list here. I do not see myself working with them but the occasional catching up with my emails, online chats, social networking activities are a breeze to that of opening a book to read and stowing it away almost instantly when I don't need it. Also, it could even be used in crowded places without being like a bull in a China shop.
Personally, I felt that the iPad's design, screen size and performance is really considerably value for money.

What do you have in mind budget and brand wise?
When you say that the price is a little out of reach for iPad, I think you can consider purchasing it with a sign up to an access contract with your local service provider. I understand that it is more affordable doing it this way. The other way would be purchasing it with a hire purchase plan which comes with a protection insurance policy for the equipment during the period.
I am not exactly sure which brand or operating system you have in mind, I would say that the spectrum is very wide. Before you rush your decision there are 2 things you should do before you make your final decision. First being the after sales service, which a lot of China brands are known to disappoint in this area. You may want to make a visit of the service center after the showroom.
The second would be really getting down to it, by doing a test drive with your interested brand models and compare it to the iPad. Picture quality, display resolution, speed, performance, user friendliness, size and weight. Let me say that this was the deal breaker for me, so give it a go and you will not regret it.

I can recommend you Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5100. It's really good. It can be your mobile phone (just quite bigger), laptop and source of entertainment. It has a good battery life and clear monitor view. I'm using it while replying in this discussion.
It's around 19,000 Pesos when I bought way back January this year and it got cheaper today since Samsung has released Galacy Tab 8.0! :)

Well if you want affordability, you are probably going to have to go with an Android, as those have the better prices. The Nexus tablets and the Galaxy are supposed to be pretty good, so if you can afford those, they are probably the best choices.
The Asus tablets are also great, but they are more expensive.

Really? I know Galaxy is expensive. I have nexus and Asus on my mind. In terms of quality, which is better Asus or Nexus? How about the price?

The Asus ones are also pretty expensive, unforunately. I think the Nexus is a good one to go with, I've heard good things about it and you can get the Nexus 7 for a pretty good price.
The amazon Kindle Fire is also a good one for less than $200 USD.
You can find cheaper tablets, but they aren't going to have good quality, so if you want something that you know has good ratings and you can trust, but still is a lower price, I would go with one of the above two.

I'll search it. What does it mean for a quad core? Very cheap tablet. How long have you been using it?
