why songs of today does not last longer?

Hey, i know there are lots of people who also noticed that songs today doesnt last. They will only become famous for a couple of months. I asked a friend about it and He answered me that its because songs of yesterday was more meaningful than of today's and the music were awesome. Well that was his opinion also. But what could be the other reasons?

I would say most likely because longer songs typically don't have much success today, since people's attention spans last about as long as those of a goldfish.
Also pop music is the most listened to music, and pop music is generally repetitive, and you can only repeat the same 4 words so many times.
