Red Equal Signs

Anyone notice the red equal signs popping up all over facebook as profile pictures? I noticed them recently and was confused about what they were for, then I looked it up and it turns out it is because the Supreme Court is in session debating whether or not gay marriage should be legalized federally. People are putting up the red equal signs (or variations of them (I've seen a triforce for all you Zelda fans!)) to show their support! What do you think of this? Do you support it being legalized and what do you think the court will decide? I really hope they move forward and stop the discrimination.

Being in the country that bans Facebook, I have to apologize for the inability to see the "red equal" sign on this social networking site. But, I find it odd that the other respondents above are unable to find the sign as well. On the other hand, I don't think there's would be any discriminatory issue about putting up the sign especially it is ones' right to exercise an own freedom of expression, choice and support. As for gay marriage, I don't support legalizing since this form of marriage has bad consequences and send wrong messages across. I know that there will people around that will disagree with me but I feel that there must be a limit or some boundaries in everything we do. Equally, so does the law which must have certain necessary limitations especially when it needs to be held highly by the people above exercising it and the people below observing it. I feel that gay marriage should be exceptional and granted on a case to case basis. There are already enough abuses on legitimate matrimonial marriages and legalizing gay marriage will open the door wider for perpetration. Also, this form of marriage is unhealthy - more like a modern day genocide and it comes legalized. No offense to any gays and gay sentimentalists here. It is my personal opinion only.

Well to be very honest, i have not seen any such red signs on Face book. But otherwise my full support is with the legalization of the gay marriages and i sincerely pray from the bottom of my heart that it is legalized. there is no point in discussing about its legibility or relevance. Each one of us have the right to live and no one can take away the freedom from those people who love someone of the same gender.

The more I evolve as a random person sharing this world with 7 billion other people, the more I find it sickening that "marriage" is something that would ever be illegal in the first place for consenting adults. I can understand it being illegal for children to marry, or someone who doesn't have their mental faculties. But when you're talking about two--or three or thirty!--consenting adults, no one should be able to dictate whether or not they can get married. We'll eventually shed the rest of these stupid religious values. If people take away that they should love one another and be good people, that's one thing. But using religion to discriminate (which is the only reason; if there's another, I want to know about it) against people is bigoted nonsense. I've heard a gang of arguments about "Well, what if I believe it's immoral?" or "Don't I have freedom of religion?" and others, but none of them sound as good to me as the counter: Mind your own business.
