Having sweat doesn't mean that you really burn a lot of calories.

I believe that it all really depends on each of us individually because of our BMI and what we can physically do without harming ourselves further. I think though that swimming would probably be high up there on all of our lists because it's fun, we like to do it alot when the weather will allow, and we tend to not eat so much right after as we have to shower, relax from the rigourous exercise.

Of course, with swimming, you need to have access to a pool to be doing your exercise. I used to have access to a swimming pool near where we used to live, but I didn't develop a liking for swimming as an exercise. It's only an exercise if I'm a swimmer and swimming is my sport. Otherwise, it's just some kind of hobby.

It depends on the person, and the activity, in regards to how much time you spend on the machine or the exercise, and how far you go in distance. Personally for me I know the treadmill burns far more calories than cycling and the cross trainer. I am surprised that swimming is the best exercise for burning calories, mind you I am not a keen swimmer and find it totally boring. Of course on the treadmill and bike you can change the program, you will burn off more calories if you run or cycle up hill etc...

I think that the exercise that is best is one that you use a lot of your body for. Swimming, running, interpretive dance, etc. And doing different ones so you don't get bored is always good too.

Yes. What I know that swimming is the exercise that can burn the most calories. It is because it will exert too much force when swimming unlike other activities such as running, recycling and so on. I see it as light exercise.

Wow, I wouldn't have tought that. I would have picked running or cycling first. Swimming is not for me, though, I'm not good at it. I'm going to take a look at nr. 2 calorie-burner, I guess :P.

If you perform those activities you mentioned regularly for a certain number of hours, it should burn a lot of calories. As for me, I used to jog a lot for several hours everyday. And then, I found out that aerobic exercise are not necessarily the best way to exercise. You need to lift weights or do some weight training. This will build your muscles and well-toned muscles tend to burn calories even at rest.
