hi everyone. Last night my baby didn't have enough sleep and she is all fuzzy and crying because of her diaper rash. It's super hot in our place right now and the diaper rash just kick in a few days ago. I tried putting diaper rash ointment but its not healing. We also have this diaper rash powder but its not working on her. SHe cries the whole night and can't get any sleep at all. I put a cream with calamine lotion and zinc oxide and she somehow had a relief and dooze off. I am trying to change her diaper every 3-4 hours soak or not just have to change her. Help mommies what should I do? Do you have a home remedy that will soothe her skin immediately? Her rash looked like a prickly heat on her buttocks.

How old is your baby? Why don't you try using a cloth diaper first? And if you prefer the disposable ones, change it every 2 hours or less, not 3-4 hours. You can also use petroleum jelly or Mustela's Stelactiv (I'm not sure of the name, but they do have a gel for diaper rash). These 2 work best for my baby so you might want to give it a try and see how it goes.

my baby is 1 year old. mustela is kinda expensive I might stick to petroleum jelly instead. But I think it is a prickly heat rash. I am applying prickly heat powder instead of ordinary ones

Well it sounds like she has a bacterial rash they don't go away quick like a normal rash. You change her every hour weather she is dirty or not. There is something really cheap and so easy to find hat works great with tough rashes. Foot cream using athletes food cream and first aid cream together. Your just change which cream from each diaper change. What also works well is butter butt.

In the USA you can get it at any store. So I don't know you would have to go to the store and see if its there, its in a red box.

It sounds like heat rash rather than diaper rash. Can you let her go without a diaper for awhile? Also, a little baking soda sprinkled into a fresh diaper will help keep her cooler. If you're using disposable diapers, the heat can make your baby miserable because no air can get through the plastic outer layer. I would also changer her more often; maybe every two hours.

I will definitely change her more often. I found out this morning that the rash flared up. I am so dissapointed with myself. I just can't change her during sleep time because she wakes up easily. i will try putting baking soda in her diaper next time. I think she is allergic to diaper rash powder. That's what I applied before going to bed and bactroban ointment.

No, of course you can't wake her up to change her. The baking soda will help keep her drier, too, and if it happens to be a fungal infection (possible in hot weather), baking soda will help resolve that, too. If it continues, you might want to take her to the doctor just to be sure, but it really sounds like a heat rash. Dry and cool are the keys to that.

I used to wash the baby's bottom with warm water and let it dry completely. It is much better if the skin is exposed rather than be covered with diaper all the time. If you really need to put on the diaper, much better to use the cloth diaper instead. It is a lot cooler to the skin than the disposable diapers.

I don't have cloth diaper as of the moment. we are using disposable. Maybe because of the summer heat that's why the rash flared up.

Vasoline. Works great. Cheap. Has many other uses too. Works great on even sensetive skin unlike some rash creams. Get a jar and slather it on the booty.

vaseline is sticky and its hot here in our place it might flare up more. What I am doing now is exposing her butt cheeks whenever we sit or when I carried her. then I put powder frequently.

Try soaking her in a bath with corn starch. Also what kind of cream are you using? I have found that Triple Paste works the best. Its a little expensive but works wonders... also just sprinkling corn starch on her rash to keep the area dry and allow for healing.

hi.. it sounds like to itchy to your little baby. to prevent that rash why don't you use talcum powder? or if night don't put diaper to your baby. instead of diaper use clean cloth during night perhaps it will prevent.

What kind of diapers are you using? Cotton ones? The ones you wash yourself? Wash them with green soap and add some vinegar to it. Also if possible let walk/sleep/lay without diapers for a while (in the sun would be better). Are you using the ones you can buy in a shop? It's possible there is something added to it that makes it worser (mine Always had it from pampers but never from the very cheap ones). Also good thing to let the sleep/lay/walk around without diapers (sun or fresh air is a must). Don't use oil, etc.. clean with water and no rubbing...

You should take her to a doctor as soon as possible. You could also try putting ince in a bag or like on of those packets of frozen vegetables on her skin, maybe that could soothe her skin, if the rash came because of the heat. And just use the calamine lotion cream frequently, if that helped.
