The Courier came today. Because of my mistake with the NEXT order he will have to return that parcel but at least he redeemed himself by delivering the Whirly Floor Lamp from BHS, that I'd ordered (not by mistake) from their website a few days ago.
Bargain at £30. Originally it was £80, then it was half-price and I got a further voucher code of £10 on top of that. Free delivery too of course.
I left John assembling the floor lamp whilst I cleaned up upstairs. He could concentrate better me being out of the way.
Anyway, the photograph shows it in the corner by the window. Next to it (along the wall) is the leather settee and chair which only had to be moved to the right slightly. I'm so chuffed the light fits in that corner, otherwise I'd be struggling finding somewhere else for it. I couldn't photograph the whole thing but you get the idea what it looks like. Unfortunately, only the bulb for the task light was included. Tomorrow we will get 2 x 60W ES GLS bulbs for the uplighter and I can't wait to see it switched on. There are also two dimmable switches that work independently, giving a much softer light if need be.
I shall probably take another photograph of it lit up tomorrow sometime.
Hope you like it. I love it!

I am glad you are pleased with it my friend, it looks really nice, it looks good in situ. You definitely got a great bargain there. I am glad you didn't leave me to assemble it, I wouldn't have a clue, I am hopeless when it comes to putting things together, all those years of lego construction didn't do me much good. I hope you manage to find the lights tomorrow. Nothing worse than going to get the bulbs only to find they are elusive!

I've been reading the reviews on this lamp and people have been saying that the bulbs are actually difficult to get hold of. Don't know why but we will try The Range instead of BHS as they're more likely to have what we want.
I cannot believe I bought this for £30. It looks way more expensive than that and I've seen similar ones (on different sites) for over £100. I don't know what it is about lighting, I nearly always get a bargain.
As for John putting the thing together - I just left him to it as he needed time to think it all through. I'd be in the way!

It looks lovely, and you paid a very good price for it. Its quite nice that the courier who came with the next parcel also brought you the bhs one too, as I keep on reading about how little they get paid, so two parcels to the same address is probably quite useful.
Even if he has to return one of them.

The thing is, if the NEXT site wasn't designed the way it is i.e. once an order has been made that's it..can't change your mind, he wouldn't have to keep sending their parcels back. I feel a bit sorry for him in that regard. At least I haven't paid any money so that's a relief in itself.
I'm pleased you like the lamp. I'm actually surprised how good it is..I love shiny chrome!

Presumably he gets paid even if he has to send it back, but the next website sounds really weird, I have used one where paying is not an essential, and early, part of the order process.

Very nice. Fits in with the rest of your decor nicely.
It looks like the task light is a halogen lamp? They get very hot, so be careful.

Yes, it's similar in design to the task lamp on my desk. To be honest, the task lamp won't be used as much as the uplighter. The reason being I wanted an uplighter so we don't have to have the main 5 arm ceiling lights on at night. They're too bright.

I like the lamp. It seems like it should work well in the space, and that was a good price on it.
Hopefully, there isn't an issue with the other parcel. That site sounds like it is rather poorly designed if it is that easy to accidentally order things on it.

I have no doubt that the parcel will be sent back by the Courier in an efficient manner. He's been round here a few times actually and he seems to know what he's doing. It must be frustrating for him having to send stuff back because the website is badly designed. Apparently, it's not the first (or last) time he will have to send a parcel back that was ordered by mistake.
At least he could deliver our lamp though as it would've been tight if he'd have to send that back as well.

I like such a floor lamp which is really exquisitely made. You can always pick up the good and cheap stuff.
