How did you feel about online classes?

I'm planning on going back to college to earn my degree in the near future. I have two children and quite a busy life so I've been doing research into some online schools. These questions would go out to the people that have had experiences with pursuing education either via online or through the mail. What were some of the pros and cons of taking classes online? Did you prefer online or going into physical classes? If you could do it all over again would you still choose to pursue your degree through online classes? Was there ever a time where people looked at your degree as not being as valuable because you completed it online? Thanks!

Colleges and Universities both in the US and Canada are busy pricing themselves right out of business. Thousands of bright young students, as well as older adults too, are graduating via online courses, and its not going to stop anytime soon. There is no question that taking the online course is better than graduating with a thousand dollar debt.

I agree Colleges keep jacking up the tuition and requirements to make it more difficult to afford. I would think if you are in a "thousand dollar debt" you've done something right I recall after my student loan and grants to go to tech school I still owed $5k and that was 15yrs ago! I couldn't imagine the debt someone with a BA or MA carries! As a co-worker said it was more than a car payment a month... OUCH!

I made one mistake when I studied online. I signed up for too many classes. I thought that I would be able to take many classes and work at the same time, but I didn't have enough time to study as much as I planned and I had to reduce the number of classes that I had chosen. I would study online again if I had to make the choice today, but I wouldn't sign up for too many classes I if I also have a full time job.
I think that there are many advantages about online classes. At that time I lived in a village in the countryside and it would have been timeconsuming and expensive to commute daily. I also think that it much easier to combine work and studies when I study online because as long as I have access to the internet I can study anytime or anywhere that I choose, and I have much more freedom that way.

It depends on what online school you attend. I had attended University of Phoenix online and had a horrible experience. They expected you to be online four days a week and it took a lot of time away from my work and my family. I had attended Walden University and had a wonderful experience. I earned two Master's Degrees and miss attending there. The instructors are helpful, the students are wonderful and supportive, and the staff is great as well. I have not applied for any jobs yet because the job market in Nevada is terrible.

If I were you I would feel that taking online classes were better. Why? It is because it's cheaper(you won't burn a big hole in your pocket) and you don't have to leave the house to get to college(especially if the college you chose is far).
But the drawbacks to online classes is that sometimes degree through online classes are seen as not valuable(you were right about that)and you have to be discipline enough to teach yourself through online classes (you don't get much help compare to classes you take in real life because the lecturer is always there for you) unless you are being taught by a lecturer via live chat or something then maybe you can get immediate help for your assignments. (But sometimes it's difficult to point out mistakes in your assignments through the internet)
But still it's all up to you in the end whether you want an online class or not.

It is convient to take part in online classes, but on contrast, it is also convient to be lazy not to focus on classes.

Online class system is really good i know. I learn everything through online learning center. I am doing now bachelor in computer application and i got good marks with online class.
But yes its also good that by sitting at home you can able to learn everything and you do not have to go out for talking classes.

I'm not too huge on online classes. I like actual lessons in classrooms better. They way I can interact real time with the teacher, ask them questions, and I actually learn better if I hear the things, too.
Of course, online classes are good if you wanna learn from home and don't wanna travel too far to the university or college or school, and they are hence really time-saving, too.

I was with the Open University for 3 years - Walton Hall, Milton Keynes. I left school with no qualifications. I gained 2.5 foundation qualifications at university level. It was a blend of formal papers, TV lectures and a personal tutor. I swapped to Manchester University after this on the grounds that I could gain an honours degree in 3 more years v an ordinary degree in 6. Manchester accepted my foundations happily. The best thing is exploring, I could have done anything it so happens psychcology grabbed I've now a phd in psychcology. TV, online, written stuff, tutoring, and I got there. It's hard work and takes self discipline and determinatíon but is possible.
