I have a husband who is african american. My kids are biracial. I thought that since it is 2013 the world wasnt racist like it used to be. But boy was I wrong! A little over 2 weeks ago my husband ( who has never done drugs or drinks or anything illegal) gets pulled over by the police. They pulled him over because he was confused on where to go. Later on they eventually told him if he was someone else they probably wouldn't have pulled him over. Meaning if he wasnt black they wouldnt have done nothing. I just had to share this because I think that it is so sad that after all of these years people still have racism inside of them. This incident really hurt me because my husband is a wonderful man who would never hurt anyone and who actually loves helping people. This is really just an awareness that some people still need to change.

Racism most definitely exists and it goes both ways. There are African American's out there that also hate caucasians. It is not just one sided. It is VERY sad that people are still racist now a days. It should have been LONG over with. Sadly it is not over. Many people in all races deal with it every day...
Before I met my husband I dated all races, never had a preference. I cannot tell you how many times other races would tell me that I should stick to my own kind. I was, we were both people-that is my own kind! But I knew what they meant and it has bothered me for years!
Racism is a very sad thing and I hope one day it will not exist anymore...

All of us should look beyond the color of ones skin and look at the person inside ..Judge them by their personality and nothing more. how sad/

Racism, unfortunately, is still alive and well. And most often it is African American men who usually feel the brunt of it. I lived in a town for over 20 years and never got hassled by cops. However, once my son became old enough to drive, he was stopped numerous times by cops just doing "routine checks". It's a fact of life that if you have sons they will probably have to contend with this.

Routine checks my butt. No cop does routine checks. Thats crazy. I really hate racism. I hope one day everyone opens their eyes and realizes we are all God's children.

I am sorry that your husband has to deal with that rude officer. But I think that there would always be a racist no matter what year we are in. Some people just are stuck with some issues in the past. The most important thing is your husband has a good heart and you know it and the rest of your family and friends can attest to that.

Some people cannot seems to move on from the past as well as to realize that no matter what color and religion we are, we are all still human. We should have been treated equally and be given equal rights to live. This is not an issue only between the black and white. But people face such racial discrimination, prejudices and bad treatment all over the world. It does not seems possible for people to change their behavior and mindset as if they could be changed, the world we see today should have been completely different.

I am sorry the two of you went through that. They are still around, racism will never die, until you get rid of the multitudes and their children and other family members. Yeah, that won't happen. They teach racism and hatred to each other.

Are you kidding? Even here in the Philippines there are foreigners who put in our faces. They really say that they don't like our color, they're just here for some business or something. Really? How about I burn you and leave you all black and burnt, would you still care for your color? Damn racists..

I'm sorry to hear what had happened to your husband. So the equality thing was only on newsprint and movies, I guess. Just because of confusion, they had to make an arrest whoever they want. That is really sad, I just hope your husband will be cleared of what ever evidence the police have against on him

It's too bad your husband had to go through this. Racism and prejudice exist...I think all we can do is be a good example and be kind and non-prejudicial ourselves. I also feel badly for the cops since most are decent people but the 'bad apples' spoil the image.

I wonder why so many times that as people who are really advanced in so many things. Why we still judge others by the color of their skin. That is just so wrong in so many ways.
