I think that everything on that show is scripted. They get in a lot of money for making all the drama that the viewers expect to see.

Although I feel sorry for those hurt during a fight, I still think that everything is scripted.

@anand3friend They're real AND scripted; the wrestlers 'script' their characters (and the managers 'script' characters' interactions), but the people are real in the ring.

very true. It has only some of the scripted elements and rest are real.

Some of the punching are fake but the high flying acrobatics the smashing of chairs and tables are real. Yes WWE has become a scripted show but it is still real in terms of the wrestling genre. The drama that is portrayed makes the wrestling more interesting and exciting. Imagine if all of it is pure hard core wrestling like those in the Olympics, then you may think after a while that it becomes boring. The addition of feuds and drama in wrestling has given the sport a certain twist in match making and challenges. The grapples are real, sometimes it became so real that a wrestler suffers from a broken feet or finger but its all part of the show. Still WWE is a world of pure wrestling entertainment.

I totally agree with you. If there is no stunts or scripted stories then we can't even imagine that how boring it can be. Every professional do their own tricks to increase their business and wrestlers are the professionals who fight very carefully and even act like real actors when required. WWE is really a total entertainment.

Of course it is fake but to be exact it's scripted. Amateur wrestling is the real one, this can be in a form of collegiate competition, amateur events, etc. While professional wrestling refers to wrestling entertainment which is scripted but the injuries and physicalities are real, especially the danger/risks. Anyway, I used to watch wrestling, but I have stopped already and just into NBA basketball. Just too much violent, though some are just comedic like Santino Marella's antics. Probably one of the bad effects of these shows is that children imitate what they see on tv in spite of the warnings etc.

Also, I would like to share this Bible verse about wrestling :).
Ephesians 6:12 (King James Version)
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

I have been watching wrestling since i was 5 years old kid and i am not kidding, whether you talk about TNA or WWF-WWE. What i know its all mix up, means scripted+some reality. Like you saw CM Punk disrespecting Paul Bear after his R.I.P. , he doesn't show any pity on him, and that's look reality, means not scripted. You need to have the experience in watching wrestling and ability to find out whether it is scripted or not, but who knows what is the inside story.
But if you talk about John Cena vs. Rock, that is scripted, like we saw Cena losing every match, after he beaten up by Dwayne at last Wrestlemania, and in the end this year he wins Royal rumble just to take an official entry to Wrestlemania 29 to fight with Rock for WWE title.
WWE already plan everything 1 year before, what they have to do next year.
They are very-very Clever.
And mark my words John Cena will win the match at Wrestlemania 29.

It is fake and scripted, as you can see if they are fighting no blood at all. Even if they will hit you ladder on your head you can still stand, lol I don't thin of somebody heat me on my head or body with ladder or chair I can't stand and continue the fight.

Obviously you cant take it because you fight hardly and they practice it daily. Even they have learned how to hit anyone without getting heart, that is why they are called professional fighters. Yes blood can be unreal but it doesn't mean that they are not fighting for real. But I agree that some fights are scripted only to entertain their viewers.

It sure look like a fake fight to me every time both wrestlers go on the stage, most of the time, the act of slamming the opponent into the floor or side of the ring look so unreal, the one who got slammed many time so hard don't even get a broken bone, the ring floor must have make of cotton or water, it is quite unbelievable. It seem like it is scripted to entertain the crowd and tv viewers more than anything.

Anything comes on Television is totally depends on its rating & for that if they are using some tactics, it doesn't mean that everything is fake. There main target is to entertain their viewers and they are doing it very well. Before watching a movie, if you think that everything is fake then how would you like movies like spiderman, Krrish, Ghost rider and all.

I have gone through the youtube videos where i saw tripple H teaching how to hit someone on face without touching him, means its a fake. But even though I don't think that its all fake. Some fights may be a part of entertainment but not all.

Hi,
It is faked. Had they made it a real fight, it would have damaged their faces and blood would be shed. After long time watching the play, I decided I am made for a fool watching it, maybe I am a bloodthirsty spectator, the players only simulates the moves in a real combat, situations that can do real damage. On the ring, it is not the real one, only a demonstration or a parody of it.

But my friend, don't you think that they are called professional wrestlers and they always fight to win, but not to damage others face or their hands. And in case of making us fool, WWE is known as world wrestling entertainment. So they have made some events scripted to make it more entertaining.

Do you watch WWE TOUGH ENOUGH? That shows you how it is ... its contestants (vying for a position on the WWE league) focus on 'telling their character's story'---the wrestling athletics--while absolutely necessary (i.e. the wrestlers really do try to hurt & injure each other)--are kind of secondary to the plot.

I don't think the WWE can be real as if that is the case, the wrestlers would suffer serious injuries with the way they punch and kick each other. I feel that it is more entertainment than real sports although the wrestlers have to be sportingly fit to be able to go into the ring.

Very true. But I think they are professional wrestlers so they know how to hit anyone without getting hurt. And they do have serious injuries many times. Scripted part makes it more entertaining. that's it

It's all scripted but it's not easy to predict the results. Like our daily soaps , where every thing is recorded earlier, here scripts are written very early and are executed live in front of audience. But in the ring, they wrestle and the wrestlers do get hurt.

I totally agree with you. Even I think same that they do act while entering or having mouth talk in the ring. But they do get hurt during fight. Their injuries are also real.

I personally think that some of the stunts on wrestling is real and some of it's fake, but I don't care because I enjoy watching every minute of it. I grew up watching wrestling and until this day I still like it.
