What are they thinking

North Korea seems to be challenging the USA. All I can think of is an old movie in which a small country in need of money declares war on the USA, because they know that we pour money into any country we defeat in war. I don't remember how the movie ends. The movie name is THE MOUSE THAT ROARED. I do know that we are in no condition to pour money into another country. If the truth be known we owe so much to china that it will take years to pay our debt. Of course politics are never what they seem to be so I guess we will just wait and see what happens next. American people hate war, but our ecconomy grows on it, what a terrible circle that is.

I read the article about North Korea challenging the USA, I looked at each countries nuclear capabilities and the odds obviously favour USA a thousand fold, the only concern I have is what countries will automatically ally themselves with North Korea and sympathize with them, if they stand alone, they will have no chance, but if a bigger country backed them, then that's when it becomes more of a threat. I shall be watching to see how this pans out and obviously North Korea is waving it's muscle at America, David and Goliath also spring to mind here.

But you ave to remember, Canada and most of Europe would probably back the US on this one, as well as Australia, so it would be quite dumb for NK to join this war without support from say, China or Russia.

What about countries in the Middle East like Iran and Iraq who hate America? They would be backing North Korea for sure. And I wonder what Japan's stance would be, would they ally North Korea?

Hi savypat, I don't think that North Korea will attack the USA, but you do have a point about the amount of money being poured into other countries. I wish we could find a way to end all war. Blessings.

I, too, have fleetingly thougut about that scenario . I think that the current leader of North Korea is too full of himself to act in a manner to benefit his people. I believe that he only thinks of himself. He would do much better to resign and to remove the barrier between the two Koreas, but that would mean sacrificing himself, his position and the position of the leaders of the communist party. I wonder if China would allow it. What is your opinion?

seems like money is controling the people instead people contoling the money. we pay taxes on everything and alot on bills and income on everything..where does it go??and then grants for the same thing taxes held out?? money to even join a game anymore before a child can play..uniforms for money..just about everywhere a waste of money for this and that..the social security held out on payrolls..all gone..work hard take it out, and have to beg to get it back..the way I see things it is our money and we should have came first...we work..we can make..we can do..I love my country the U.S.A. but we need more people who really care about the people here, born and raised...first....politics you are right are not as they seem... if one is to lie to the people then a lie it is to the world...

What makes it worse now is not just the money aspect. But the fact that North Korea has been fooling around with nuclear weapons. I mean, North Korea can never win a war against us on its own. But the Nukes make it possible. And besides how would we know if China won't side with them against us. We don't. Anything is possible in war. Yes we generally don't like war here in America. And we don't really need war. We as a country put ourselves in this position to be the worlds big brother. We did this to ourselves. It is no longer about the people here. It is all about the parties. And neither of them really seem to care what happens to us people. We need to speak up louder in this country. Why should we let all those politicians do what they feel like doing? The republicans what this, the democrats want that. Instead of playing tug of war with each other why don't they all just focus on the people and the country as a whole. They seem to be bickering about nonsense.

The Mouse That Roared was the senior play that was put on at my high school the year I graduated in 1963. Almost all the students were in it on one of the two nights it was put on. I was in it on both nights but I had a very small part but one in which I had the stage all to myself and to improvise some to give other people time to go around and enter from the front of the auditorium which was an outside entrance. The way the play went the small country, Fenwick, actually invaded the U. S. and in effect won the war they had declared. In real life that is not too likely especially with North Korea. The ones most likely to suffer are South Korea and maybe Japan if attacks do occur. And of course the people of both Korean countries.

I think North Korea just want attention. They can't really defeat the USA but I guess they're like children picking fights to get noticed. I saw a documentary about North Korea, whew, too many people are going hungry there while their government is boasting to the expense of its nationals. I think they should feed their people instead of building those nuclear weapons. I can't believe the abuse they do there. Children are malnourished and the average height of kids there are about 23 cm shorter than the South Korean counterparts and there's a lot of people going blind because of Cataract (mainly because of malnutrition). While the leader is enjoying attention and luxuries of imports, he's telling his people that they should not need outside support. Phew!

No it's not true.North Korea are in a state of war with South Korea not the USA.There is no country on this planet that would ever go to war with the USA and Russia. These two countries have loads of nukes that can destroy the whole continent in just couple of minutes.

I think north korea wants to attack america to show his power. They build powerful nuclear weapons and now they wants to use it and they wants every country around the world should listen them. As USA is the most devloped country in the world today it is a great target to someone who wants to his power.

Such a futile war could only really have 1 outcome, the downfall of North Korea. They must know this and are maybe threatening everyone's peace just to get a larger, richer country interested in them and pouring aid into their country so that the war can be avoided, or it's a huge internal double bluff leading to an easy coup by a "more sane" regime that wants a huge backing when it takes over with ideas that are tame compared to nuclear war, but would have seemed outlandish before the threats.

ah little kim, this happens every year when we do are military excises. The way i look at this is, they will have to do something serious because blowwing up nukes in there backyard isnt drawwing usa(w.e) or china into a full on war. Look they can talk all they want and we cant do anything, there empty threats, but when and im sure it will happen, they attack japan "are closest ally" in the region with missiles or attack are bases in south korea. Then thats a different story.b2 bomber and a whole bunch of stealth next gen planes will start pouring out of the usa, we would be able to rid the world from a truly aweful person and bring the korea people together once and for all, the world would be a better place, this "man" lets his people starve they have the worst military and have no allys, china is a closer ally to use imo, it wouldnt take much to over throw this tin head. i could go on and on but i will spare you the reading x)

the recent war-mongering of north korea is a reaction to the latest sanctions imposed by the UN. to show its might and power, north korea tested another nuclear bomb and rescind the armistice with south korea. so basically, the two koreas are at war. the US is obliged to defend the south korea which is seen by the north koreans as weak and easy to defeat.

American action does not prove that this country hates war. By utilizing false complaint America attacked Iraq and destroyed the country.
