Can You Honestly Say You're Happy?

How do you define happiness? There are people who say they are just simple individuals who can readily experience happiness no matter what the circumstances may bring them. Others say their shallowness and naivety are a blessing because they seldom become sad. Happiness is a choice, according to many, but how do you choose happiness when it is defined differently by a variety of people with diverse experiences and needs.
I am sometimes deep and sometimes shallow. There are times I am a complicated person and many times a very simple individual. But I always want to be happy no matter what. There are many ways I make myself worry free, and thus, happier. I pray, read the bible, cook, read books and play with my two wonderful huge dogs. Whenever I start feeling sad because I miss my mother and family who are miles away from me, I Skype and Viber them. Nowadays, there seem to be a lot of ways to be happy. The question is, can you honestly say you're happy?

I can honestly say that I am happy. I am happy because I have no desire for happiness. People are unhappy because of their craving desire for happiness. Any sort of craving, no matter what it is, will result in unhappiness. Happiness always strikes those who least want it, those who least desire for it.

I admire your honesty. Hey, you're right, there are some people who are creative enough to create happiness from sadness. I guess these are those who sees the beauty in everything even if others don't agree. Good point, my friend.

People have different views on happiness. I can't honestly say that I am 100% happy because there are some things in my life that I am not happy about. I feel like I can be in a much better place in my life at this point financially but I know one day that will all change.

Keep your hopes up, mizzlady. Your honest admission that you are not purely happy means that there will always be reasons you cling to where there are much possibilities to be happy. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this.

people see happiness differently
there are people who think that happiness is when you have a lot of money to spend there are people who think it`s when you are with your family that you are the most happy
there are people who think happiness is in working and doing something they enjoy
every person try to seek happiness in his own way as long as this happiness doesn`t affect the happiness of others then you can try any method to be happy
for me getting my parents together if they are not busy and spending the hole night talking makes me the happiest but if they are busy I guess playing games online with my friends or making videos together with them makes me very happy
no one can say i`m 100% happy but a person can say I try to find happiness even when it`s not there

Yes, happiness can be conditional, and mostly depends on your choice to be happy at a situation. Thank you for sharing this nice thought.

Hi Adval2013, I always begin my day with my beloved God. He is the one who gives me joy and happiness. Without Him in my life, I will feel something missing and there is a vaccum.
Further to that I know I am happy when I am in peace. Nothing bothers me and I live a simple life. I do not mixed around with people nowadays and confine to my own family life and church life. All the people around me makes me happy too. I have nothing to worry about and no one cause me sad. So, I am just living in peace and joy each day.
Reading His Word nourishes me and strengthens me each day. So, I know where to go to when I am in need. Besides, I now getting involve in mylot where I can make more friends and have fun. I can spend my time more fruitfully and meaningfully. There is no reason for me not to be happy...

Happiness just doesn't happen! Its like many other good things in life, it must be planned for! Yes I'm an Happy old senior. I have nothing to worry about, and if I did it would be something that I have absolutely no control over (like an asteroid collision with the earth) Nothing is so bad that it couldn't be worse!

I honsestly can say I am not truly happy. If I was finanically secure, was not a worrywart and suffer form mild depression I would be happier. I also would be happier if all the crap I can't get through from my childhood, that would also make me more happy! No matter what I do I can't get over the wall! That would me extremely happy!

Thank you for giving an honest comment. Normally, we cannot all be happy at all times. I hope there will be more reasons for you to finally get over the past and be healed of even the mildest depression. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on happiness.

Yes, I am happy. There, I said it.
You read the bible, you know of the hope that lies ahead. What's there not to be happy about? Nothing is comparable to the joy that awaits us. Present sorrows may dent our mood once in a while, but strive to be happy. You are a child of God.

no one in this world can say that at any point of time for sure since they are dealing with immense amount of stress all day for sure

Each day has enough stressful moments thrown at us..you're right in saying that we cannot really be sure about happiness - unless if we can really firmly decide that no matter what the day brings, I will choose to be happy. That's kinda hard, right? :)

Yeah! I can say that I am happy. We should learn from past and always plan for future but we should never forget to enjoy our present because yesterday is gone and tomorrow will never come the only thing which we have is present.

I agree, we should learn to enjoy the present knowing that we cannot do anything anymore to what is in the past and the future is yet to come and we don't know what's in it either. Good point there, my friend!

it depends on the person, some people can be happy with any small thing.small incident in their life
but some of them just prefer complaining and dislike everything in their life.
i am a person who can be happy with any small thing, and i also pray god and say thanks, because of i am healthy,i can eat ,i can live and survive,
and i always think that there must be many people who has worse situation than me.
life is easy if we just enjoy and understand what the real happiness is,
health ,good family and good friends are enough for me to live happily.
happy mylotting

I believe that the nature of life is to provide good moments and bad moments. There is no way around that fact. What we do have control over is how we respond to each type. If we embrace the good moments and derive as much joy and contentment that we can, from each one, and learn to gain knowledge and wisdom from the bad moments, then we can begin to understand the meaning of happiness. I read a book by Baba Ram Dass called "Be Here Now" many years ago and the impact of his philosophy has carried me through some very difficult situations. It is so simple and yet, sometimes so hard to accomplish. I believe that if you find a level of contentment in your life where you can weather the bad moments and treasure the good moments, that would be an acceptable form of happiness!

Very good point...our response to "moments" of life will dictate our happiness. Thank you very much for sharing this thought.

Happy from my prespective is a condition when we feel pleased, comfort, and enjoy with something, and happiness we can fint it anywhere, like from praying to God, helping other people, talking with friends, watching our favorite show, surfing on the internet, and many many more! As i think the simple thing that can make me happy right now, is joining MyLot, can chat with many friendly people, share our thoughts, knowing many new things that probably we never know before, and not just that, we can earn some money too, here! :)

You're right in saying that happiness can be found wherever you are positioned and you choose the things, actually mostly simple things that can absolutely make you happy.
