I admit that I am not yet financial free , let me clear some air now about financial free mean to me. You don’t have to worry your next meal what is it, you don’t have to drag yourself out of the bed in the morning, you can travel to every destination you want anytime, anywhere, with business class, you have the cash cow bank that put the money in your wallet everyday. I see my next shop neighbor boss, around age 20, have worker, have a girl, have the car, have the style and best of all he did not have to work all day long while he still need to do some check and that not take him more than 30 minute a day to work. The rest of the day he hang out with he girl, that all but still money flow into he pocket. I am jealous, I start questioning myself why I just can’t have the entrepeunur spirit, why I lack of that. I want myself to be financially free by age 40. But how???? I start to explore the option I got. 1. Buy house at least 20-30 house and rent it out. 2. Invest in the stock market 3. Rob the bank Ok just kidding about option 3. Option 2 I need to have lot of money and that is the problem. Option 1, buy house hmmmm start buy cheap house first then cheap house next cheap house and the process continue. Hahaha I am sure nothing is impossible once I want to be financially free ……..what about you

I'm not according to your definition. I am able to do what I want - on the weekends. That's because I just got hired into a good company. I do have to get myself out of bed every morning and I'm glad to do it because for awhile I was unemployed except for a few temporary jobs from an agency and some others that didn't work out. It was just enough to get extensions on unemployment. But it's when I'm not working I don't feel finacially free. I agree with you that nothing is impossible but don't define your goals by a neighbor or anyone else. Most people don't have that luck. He may have been either had a business handed to him, or he worked very very hard in his teenage years or something. maybe he inherited some money and invested in a business that brings him that kind of money. but nothing is free and somehow he probably had to sacrifice something to get this. For instance, one way you can get money flowing in is buy a house and rent it out. but remember, anything that goes wrong, you have to fix at your expense. Plumbing, outside. etc.

I am not financially free right now. I am a student and is still depending to my parents. But after I graduated in college I will do my very best to find or make anything that will lead me to be financially free and to return my gratitude to my parents.

To me, being financially free means being debt free. Of which I can proudly say I am. Let me clarify that I don't consider monthly services such as utilities and phone service as debts. What I consider to be debt is credit card debt, mortgage, car payment, etc. I may not have tons of money at the ready but I have no more debt so if I want to take a trip somewhere or buy some nice big ticket item I can easily save up for it. I used to wish that I was rich. But, some people have gotten rich and then found themselves in a financial mess or even broke because they didn't know how to manage their money. Instead of controlling their money they let the money control them. I'll take the ability to manage money over being rich any day. THAT'S financial freedom in my book.

I disagree. I've never heard of any kind of debt that earns you money. A debt that earns you money seems like a contradiction in terms since the very definition of debt means that you must pay money or pay something in order to clear the debt. Therefore you are losing money rather than gaining money. Add to that the fact that most debt always carries interest with it and you pay more than the original amount of the debt. How is that possibly earning you money? The only debt that I would consider good would be debt for something of investment value such as a house.

ok that is what i mean by good debt invest in house, sorry i not say it clearly to make you misunderstand at me. therefore invest in house mean you let other stay at your property and in return they must pay rent.....how much the market and you decide it.............right

Your definition of being "financial free" is equal to being rich, because you want not just to have food on the table and a roof over your head. You want to be able to enjoy life. You want to be able not to work. You want to be able to spend as you wish. I feel that is more than just being "financially free". My financial goal is to pay up all the mortgages and loans that I take, making sure that I have enough savings for the basic needs of my family which includes schooling, and a fair amount for my retirement. There is no use in being jealous with your next shop boss as it is not productive. As you said, you should learn from his entrepreneur spirit, so that you can also do what he is doing. He may have done a lot of work to make his business successful. There is no way that any business can succeed without the owner doing any work. Take one step at a time. Be practical with the reality. Invest with what you are currently capable of. There is no use to think big without any capital.

It may not be exactly as your definition of 'financially free', but I feel that I am. I don't have to worry about basic needs such as food and shelter. And I manage to be debt free even though I have to work full time.

I agree with sishy, the definition of financial freedom depends on how the person accept it. For me, it means contentment. I don't consider myself as financially free since I still worry about a lot of things. I worry about my credit card bills, I worry about my future, I worry about a lot. Although I am happy that I already graduated from being an employee. Now, I work with my brother managing our review center. I hope I can be able to enjoy financial freedom and I believe I can attain it once the business become really successful.

Yes I am financially free, I have no debts, no loans, no bills to pay and I have no dependents, so it's a great feeling in a way. I was taught from a young child to save, and I have been a frugal saver throughout my life, which has made a great deal of difference, plus I am not open about my financial security, if I had of been, my ex would have fleeced me for sure!

i consider myself to be financially free, because i just received 100% disability rating from the department of veteran affairs. that is the equivalent to retirement pay. i got this rating because of my mental issues. i also work online and sell jewelry to supplement my income even more. it feels great to not have to drag yourself out of bed and work for someone else. i was sick trying to work and it was making me sicker. i really couldn't hold a job, because of my mental illness. i wanted to be a lawyer, but that dream is now gone. i feel better than i ever did, before though. it feels good to be financially free. i can go anywhere i want to go and do anything i want to do. i wish i didn't have to be sick to get have it that way, though.

to me there is a big difference between to be worried about the next meal (which I am not even if it means I have no meal since I don't care about that) or travel to every destination I want anytime. Anytime also means you are jobless, have no children or animals to take care of. Since only if you are alone you can go when and where you like to go. I only have money in my wallet if I need to do the shoppings for the rest my wallet is empty. If I want to travel I make a plan, when it's possible to have free days of (for me and my children who need to go to school which is law) and what I need to do (which means: how to save money) to get the amount I need for travelling. Does that mean financially free? I think it is. Especially if you have no debts/loans (which I don't have). If you want to own houses to let you also need a lot of savings since as a house owner you have to pay taks over all your property but you also need to keep your houses in good shape! Invest in the stock market? I think you better be more realistic. The economics all over the world are bad already since years (over 15 years) and by now it's only getting worser. Rob the bank? You could give it a try, unless it's one of those banks that is bankrupt already (or again). An other option is to be creative, to travel around the world with very less, to work while you are travelling. I wonder what exactly means travelling to you. If it's only about the luxury you can stay at home and photoshop yourself on a cruise ship. Me? I never had plans for my future, I tried to survive. Now I am over 40 years old already and still having little children to take care of.

Hi, I think I am financially free because I am financially independent. I don't like to sit at one place and get all the comforts. I like to work. But there should be no tension. I can work freely without bossing. I am retired person but I am working as insurance adviser and I am free because I have no boss. I can work freely as per my way.

I am a financial free even if I have a baby my husband too because he still a student. We are just waiting for our money coming from our mother who are working abroad to sustain our needs. But time will come I will pay them for all the sacrifices they done to us. :) For now we are financial free, but time will come we will work for our future and we will sustain our own needs. :)
