Oh my God what are people thinking...I could not believe this article when I even saw the topping.. A tattoo artist, disabled Iraq War veteran, and father of three in North Carolina, is under fire for tattoing his pitbull... I am not even a lover to animals but I would never mistreat one and I just think this is truly animal cruelty...I don't have any tattoos but on the dogs belly...thats seems like a very tender spot...OUCH!!! How do you feel about this act....

This just is sickening. I am going to guess that he must have put that dog to sleep with some pretty good anesthesia. There is no way that the dog would have sat still through such an ordeal. Most would have attacked and a pitbull probably would have killed him. Regardless, it is cruel and the dog had to have been in a little pain when it came to. So are charges being pressed against him? If not, they should be. You can't even legally let a kid under 18 get a tattoo in many States no matter how strongly they express their desire to have one.

I don't understand how anyone could not think that this was animal cruelty and allow him to keep that dog. Even if the dog is fine after the fact, it is still wrong and very very weird. And like someone mentioned below, are we now going to start allowing people to just tattoo their pets? And where are we going to draw the line...piercings too? And how is anyone going to know if the animal was properly put under or it was done under sanitary conditions? I allowed my youngest daughter to get her nose pierced on her 16th birthday. It was just a little diamond stud and and heck, you can get their ears pierced when they are infants. Still, I had to sign waivers and show my ID and her birth certificate to show that I was in fact her mom. I had to go in the room with her to witness him sterilize the needle and then was given the option of staying or leaving. If I chose not to stay, he'd have a female assistant in the room with him. Tatooing a dog is just cruel and there is absolutely no reason to do so.

thia ia the quote from the man who tattooed his dogs.. “I didn’t just plop her on the bed and tattoo her. She was already [on] on anesthetics. She was asleep, completely asleep. And I even used topical anasthetic, too, on top of that, on the skin. So she didn’t feel anything. She got up, she’s been fine. I love my dogs.” and to answer your question if he was arrested or not,,...NO he was not..

This is definitely inhumane, selfish and cruel. Some people are so self involved it is amazing some of the things they do. I wonder if they put it to sleep or how they were able to do that to an animal. Weird!

It is crazy. They must have given the dog knock out drops.

IDK, I almost want to hope that the dog was asleep but how can he be so still to have that noise and needle not awake him and how did he even stay stll enough for a tattoo???...just plain crazy....

Oh,my. I think I agree with you that this is animal cruelty. I cannot think of any reason that a pit bull needs a tattoo. Of course I do not care for the routine tail cropping or ear cropping. I think he may be trying to create a new market for his craft. Someone will think it is trendy, and will want to have it done as well.

:(, I am not an expert on animal rights or what but I think this is just wrong. First of all, the poor animal, being an animal wasn't able to decide whether it's willing to be tattooed or not. Nevertheless, common sense will tell us that no animal would want to be tattooed at all. In fact, many humans don't like to be tattooed, so how can we expect a poor animal to want one?

Oh my god... How could someone be so cruel just because he think this is funny? Tattooing hurts, and the dog probably doesn't want it. Poor pitbulll...
