Do you know how to do the Heimlich Maneuver?
According to The New Family Health And Medical Guide " this maneuver can save lives and should be learned by everyone."
Here's how to do it:
According to The New Family Health And Medical Guide :
If the patient is standing or sitting: wrap your arms around his waist from behind. Put one fist with its thumb edge on the upper abdomen; your right hand clutches the fist. Thrust hard, inward and upward. Repeat thrusts until the food is forced out,
If the patient is lying down: Get him quickly on his back. Kneel astride his hips. Kneel with the heel of one hand covered by the other hand. Repeat thrusts until the food is forced out.
Have you tried saving the life of someone using this maneuver?

I've never done it. Even if I learnt it, I think I would be too afraid to do it, because I would be afraid that I'm holding the person in the wrong way, and I'm oushing some of his/her organs which would make him/her feel worse. I'm such a coward, I know.

hello doroffee! i understand the thought of doing more harm than good to a patient is terrifying but when your time to help rescue a persons life comes that negative thought will be set aside.
thank you very much doroffee for sharing what you know here.
