It's been a long time since I was in fifth grade but I still remember the huge impact my fifth grade teacher had on me. Her name was Suzanne Degni and I thought she was the best-est and the prettiest teacher in the world. What made her so great was that she really emphasized the arts and brought out the creativity in her students. Reading, Music, Art, Singing and even playing made learning fun and engaging. So who was/is your favorite teacher and why?

That sounds great. I was actually able to dig my favorite teacher up on the internet and gave her a call to tell her how much she made an impression on me so many years ago. She was teaching college by then and I'm sure she was great at that too. Have you kept in touch with this teacher who made such a difference for you?

I had a couple favorites through the years. I still remember my Kindergarten teacher, she was amazing. She was so sweet and had a nick name for me which I loved. :) I felt like she truly loved and cared about all of her students. Another teacher I had was a math teacher in high school. He was also super nice to me and since I struggled in math he helped so much. He took the extra time to work with me and make sure I understood the work. My last favorite teacher was my High School English teacher. I really liked her. I liked her so much in fact that for a while I wanted to be a high school english teacher just to be like her. :) I never did it, but I should have. She was so pretty, I wanted to be just like her. She was a great teacher all around...

LMB, you were very fortunate to have not one but three great teachers. I too thought I wanted to emulate my favorite teacher and become a fifth grade teacher. That is...until I subbed for awhile. Then I came to REALLY appreciate good teachers.

I liked my high school English teacher a lot, she was also our class teacher. She was good-tempered, she knew how to teach each kind of person (those who have an affinity for English, and those who don't), she was really sweet and kind and eager to help us... she was like a mother hen :). Oh, and from our 24 member class, apart from 2 people, everyone could pass an English language exam because of her :).

Sounds like a fabulous teacher. It makes such a difference when teachers really care about their students progress and development. And I think most of them do, but some of them are better at relaying it than others. Thanks for sharing!
