Sleep When You Are Tired

i was working online and reading this article about better sleep aid tips. one sleep specialist doctors says that you should sleep when you are tired, not necessarily at your designated time to go to bed. this is because your are not really tired yet and will find it hard to go to sleep. your body will start to associate the bed with being awake instead of sleeping. i never knew this, but i guess it makes sense. if it's your bedtime and you are not tired, it's okay to stay up past your bedtime until you are.

Thank you for sharing this valuable information. This is something new and also a good news to me. I always think that we need to sleep at an appointed time as our body recuperate at certain time, haha.

Hi there Moon Gypsy! That's a good piece of information. Thanks for sharing it. I am usually too tired and sleepy when I got to bed because I work on graveyard shifts and when I do not have work, I usually maximize the day doing chores, running errands or just watching TV, reading a book or spending time online. I rarely go to bed just because it's time to do so.

Trouble was, last night I was so engrossed in what I was doing it was 2.15am in the morning, trouble was I wasn't a bit tired, but because of the time I thought it best to go to bed, but I couldn't sleep, I just tossed and turned, so all that time I wasted and I could have continued on the internet with what I was doing. The only trouble is when you are on medication it does make you sleep more. I wonder if the sleep specialist doctor thought about those that are on medication, as to whether it makes a difference!

yes, I do sleep when I'm tired. but now, all that I can do is following the sleep time of my 6 months baby. it's not easy to have little baby, you have to maintain your time to sleep, to work and to do something else

Sometimes I find that if I take an afternoon nap I have difficulties sleeping later in the evening though. Not always but it has happened to me.

I think that will be a great help for all of us. Specially for new ones. Seasonal or the veteran of MYLOTIAON will also have the opportunity to refresh their mind and give the suggestions. We are waiting for your research. All the best.

Not exactly tired, but when you are already sleepy only. If you aren't sleepy yet , you will just toss and turn if you try to sleep.

Oh, really? but normally we need 7-8 hours of sleeping a day so that i guess we should take it enough, if not we will be tired in the next day. Sometime i go to sleep later but i will wake up late too as long as my sleeping time is 9 hours.

Wow its a good thing i read this, I could really apply this to my daily routine. Well most of the time when I am extremely tired and sleepy and still have lots of things to do I usually get a power nap, after that nap I am already charged again and ready to continue what I need to do.

I all the time to sleep before 12 in the evening because I have read before that it is the time that many of our vigorous organs such as our kidneys, heart, and liver need to be free from routine works. I think it is a good guidance to go sleep when we are tired, because we will get practiced sleep and when we wake up, our body will feel better and feel healthy.

I think for me that's good news...:D I'm one of those people who don't easily fall asleep because I still feel alert. Before I would try to make myself fall asleep because I thought that that was the right thing to do and I wanted to disciple myself, but I really have trouble sleeping. These days I sleep when I'm tired, and I find it easier to fall asleep that way. Instead of forcing myself to fall asleep, I do other things instead that would help me fall asleep while doing something worthwhile. Mylotting, for instance.

I agree but I have also found that going to bed at a particular time without any extra nap during the afternoons helps. If we get late one day, it disrupts routine and sleep is affected the next day because if we take a nap during daytime to compensate for the lost sleep, then it becomes a problem.

It does make some sense. And also strengthens the rule to keep to a schedule. I think going off your schedule may make these times come when its bedtime but you aren't tired. If you see what I mean. We still need 7-9 hours(women)a night. So if we aren't tired and stay up later we won't be getting that.

That does make alot of sense. I had always heard you should go to bed at the same time everynight and wake up at the same time each morning to regulate your bodies clock. However, I too find that if I go to bed and I'm not tired I will be up for hours laying in bed trying to fall asleep. Now what I do is read until I feel my eyes closing and then I go to sleep. It seems to work everytime.

Sometimes I really force myself to sleep coz I worry the number of hours of sleep I will be having. And being so tired does not help either. I tend to just watch tv longer.

Thank you for the information but I always try my best to sleep before ten in the evening because I have read before that it is the time that many of our vital organs such as our kidneys, heart, and liver need to be free from routine works. Meaning we should have already finished doing our works, relaxing and are already preparing for sleep. Because they say that it is the time to recharge our vital organs especially those that have worked since morning. It is important that we are already asleep by those times to give way for our body organs to perform their jobs effectively so that we will have energy the next morning and that we won't be having problems with our health in the future.

This is a very good piece of information you have just shared. Thank you. I usually go to bed when it's time to sleep already -it's like my personal tradition. Although most of the time, I easily get snoozed, yet, sometimes, sleep would evade me. Now I know. Right now, I am so tired already having just finished household chores and it's only almost 2 pm. But I don't care. I will take a nap even for a short period of time to prepare my body for another challenging cores later when I wake up.. :)
