Be honest, have you ever texted while driving? I just watched a news segment that said even though the majority of people know it is dangerous, they still do it. Have you ever done it? I try to stay away from doing it. I don't feel safe and I get angry when I see others doing it, especially if they are swerving into my lane because of it.

No way, Jose. I have never done it, and never been tempted to do it. It's not hard for me to picture me driving into someone else while distracted. It would be bad if I got hurt, but if I actually killed someone while texting and driving? I'd never get over it. Not to mention I could go to jail.

I would feel the same way if I hurt somebody because I was texting. I would never forgive myself either. I agree that dialing is the same thing. I try not to use my phone at all when driving. My husband sometimes calls me when he is driving and I always tell him that I am worried about him talking and driving. I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if he had an accident while talking to me either.

...I'll be honest...I used to do it all the time when I had my car. Notorious stop light checker. When going onto the highway sometimes I'd be checking it on the on-ramp.
Why?
I couldn't tell you. What kind of addiction is a cell phone? lol
I always hate it when someone whos driving me is texting or calling bc its so unsafe. i have an exboyfriend who used to do it all the time and it was obvious how dangerous it was when he ran over a curb one day. and yet he still ocntinued to do it everytime...and so do i :p
my one friend will do it when they are changing lanes. cell phones cna be plugged into your car for music too so thats an additional distraction. he changes the music while changing multipul lanes. i swear, sometimes he doesnt even look where hes going.
our roads arnt safe like this.
But how do you convince someone to stop until they can see first hand how it can hurt people?! and thats the saddest reality of all, is that someone close to us will probably have to be hurt or killed b4 we change anything.

It really hit home with me the other day when I saw what happened to a motorcyclist who was looking at a text. He ran in to a car that had stalled on the highway. He didn't see it because he was looking at his phone. This really hit home with me. I don't ever plan to look at texts while driving again. If I need to, I will pull in to a parking lot. They are rarely important anyway. Cellphones are addicting, especially now with things like Pandora.

Nope, I've never texted while driving. Honest. If anything I don't like texting. Period. I had to text with a job I had, due to the boss I had loves to communicate through texting, but I always avoided it while driving and pretty much any other time as well.

I live in a big city and I can say that there are a lot of people who do text while driving. I see them doing it while going 70 miles per hour down the highway. It is so scary. We just had a motorcyclist drive in to a stalled car that was on the highway because he looked down to read a text. He didn't survive. I don't know what makes people do it, but I certainly see it a lot here and it is illegal here.

In all honesty, never. Never done it, and I don't plan on doing it anytime soon. Whenever I do have to talk an important call or text, I would make an emergency roadside stop and quickly answer the call or message. There's nothing more important than my life, most especially not over a text or call.

I am not doing this, because I know it is not safe. So try to ignore it!

Yep, I have, but I mostly try to avoid it, or pull over or do it when I'm stopped at a light.

Only at a light, and only briefly, I have never chatted back and forth with someone, I will just type a quick message while I am sitting at a light to my kids. My kids are pretty much the only ones I ever text anyways, and all I usually say is I am on my way or I will be there in a minute, when I am on my way to pick them up from something. I would never text while in motion in a vehicle though, unless I was not the driver of course.

Honestly, I did it at times but not too often before, now whenever I have a call or text to respond to when I'm driving, I would pull over the side of the road, go to full stop, turn on my hazard lights and text. Likewise, when I am driving my motorbike, I always do the same thing, stop on the side of the road and text. I think it is much safer for me and for the other motorist, if I stop for a while and text instead of texting while driving a motor vehicle.

I remember before getting my driver's license from the LTO (Land Transportation Office), one part of our oath is to promise that we will never use our cellphones (texting/calling) while driving. I really try my best to not do this, but I must admit that I did this once or twice or probably even thrice, and I definitely regret it. Because I know even though nothing happened to me, it's still wrong, there was a time where I tried texting while driving but it's definitely hard and is dangerous, sometimes I would just briefly look at my phone when I receive a missed call or text. Nevertheless, all of these are wrong, and since then I have promised to stop doing that bad habit, since a driver should not multi-task while driving, he/she should be focus only on driving. I remember reading from one article that humans can't really multi-task, since whenever we're doing multiple things, what we're actually doing is shifting our focus from one task to another, and that's not multi-tasking, especially when you driving, every second counts, since in a split second one many things may happen while driving (avoid a collision with a car, pedestrian, obstacle, etc.).

I never texted while driving. Cause I can't drive in the first place. I wish I could drive though.

Texting while driving is way too dangerous. You shouldn't attempt to do it, since it is so dangerous. Not to mention, you could have a problem with police if they see it.

No, i have not. I don't know how to text & really don't want to know how, lol.I don't think it's a very smart thing to do. I get very tired of seeing everyone u meet w/a phone to their ear.

No I have never texted while driving, as it is against the law where I live, not to mention, that is is very dangerous. I can't believe that people still do it when it is a distraction from keeping their eyes on the road, and they could hurt themselves and others as well. I don't text anyway, and even if I did, it sure wouldn't be while I am driving. It is certainly time that people grow up and stop texting while driving. Take care, and have a very good day.

Hi,
I used to drive but I don't use the mobile phone to send text messages while behind the wheel on the road. I am aware that a fraction of a second less attention on the road invites disaster. Focus is essential especially when speed goes beyond 80KPH, at that speed a single miscalculation can send one to the dusty trail. When on the road, the only concession I give to mobile phone is to clip it on the dashboard, switch on the loudspeaker function and talk to the caller as if he is inside he car.

Hi friend, I agree with you, I also hate that see person read or texted when they drive, because it is very dangerous for others, I think they never think about the safety of other people, they just think about themselves. They are very ego people. I hate them.
