General Enjoyment of Life

This weekend was the first for me to look forward to a holiday and also enjoy it. Its been awhile for that kind of activity in my life. If a holiday was impending, recently, I felt dull about it. Then when it came, it was not anything special. This same sort of routine was happening for around two years. No holiday was worth looking forward to. Suddenly I felt happy that Easter was coming. I think it is because I get to see the children enjoy themselves at the easter hunts. The over all enjoyment this year was higher than normal. It got me thinking and wondering if our minds need to be ready to enjoy something before we can enjoy it.
We had a nice time, my sister and I, while the nieces hunted the eggs down. There was no coloring this year generally because with four children going egg hunting at a public hunt, you just do not need any more eggs after that! I suggested coloring designs on the eggs that we had. It was too busy to do that so, no coloring for this year.

Just thought of introducing an @owlwings to his echo.... As it's too dark here in myLot (can't see any activity!) and owls are the ones who can get through this. Except for the absolute dark...
The crux of the thing is I am just like you, looking at the holidays with a dull expression. Today, however, could be great fun for me; and it did not turn out to be!

@hora_fugit Thanks for the heads-up! I nearly chose that avatar but thought the one of him on a computer was more apposite
Who knows but this echo may just come back to see what all the noise is about on this old discussion!

Glad you had a great day there. I did here as well. I made a big ham dinner for my son and my brother. We ate and all sat down and had a great talk about my mom. Shes been gone about a year now. Was alittle sad. But a great day we chose to remember her. Take care there.

When you definitely know what is in store it is better that you start enjoying it in your mind even before it makes its presence.
It is also said, sometimes, the preparations are more enjoyable than the event. I have organised several events and I am a testimony to this.

Nowadays I don't do it but I have always enjoyed the entire gamut of getting ready for events that includes picnics, office parties, weddings in the family, fancy fete in the church, et al. Getting together a team of workers and discussing the issue, delegating responsibilities all this for me has been lot of fun.

Sounds like you had your share of good events that you enjoyed to cater. I am happy you had those experiences and I"m sure those who were at the party liked what you had done for their enjoyment.

Good to know. How did you enjoy preperations of such events? I may find them stressful, I am not sure as I haven't tried it myself yet.

I understand what you mean. It is like when you have been in this kind of state wherein you might have felt sad or angry but you want to get our of it, you have to condition your mind to be in a happier state so that you could get out of that hole. I do that myself sometimes when I feel that I have been "away" from certain people and that I think it is time to move on and go back to my normal way of living.

Its one way to get out of that depressing dull state. If it works out then I like to keep out of it any way I can. Life is too hard as it is, and, having the impendling cloud of doom over my head for whatever reason just makes it harder!
I'm glad I enjoyed this holiday for once, its flipped my way of thinking now. I hope it will last. I feel better about myself, more productive, and so much more hopeful about the future rather than almost dreadful.

Yes I enjoyed the holiday for once and I was glad. Holidays should be enjoyed by family and friends!
