We have seen in news what is happening in between India and Italy after some fisherman were killed. What do you think. Is it correct making big decisions on a misunderstanding done by some people?

Hi anand, it may look crazy to you, but one of the two italian soldiers, Salvatore Girone is my office collegue's cousin.. In facts this collegue is very worried for his cousin, he says that Salvatore has always been a respectful soldier and now is trapped in this very bad situation. In our opinion all this story was not very correct and a bit unrespectful to italy. Because indian justice have no real proofs that italian soldiers are guilty, so why keeping them trapped in this situation? In my opinion these two soldiers have been used to hide the real killer. I'm curious to hear what indians think about this situation

Of course, it's also right to say that italian media may have given us a version of the facts which is protective to our two soldiers , in facts there is this thesis that there was also a pirate boat in the area of the homicide so the killer could have been the pirate boat. But for what I'm getting from international news and media, the two soldiers have shot for real and maybe it was them who killed the two fishermen even if they just followed the italian army protocol for self defending themselves and even if they went to indian justice when they were called (this show they did all they did in clean coscience and not with a bad intention).. What we know for sure is that even if they are guilty their only will was to protect themselves and absolutely not to kill any innocent person. So in my opinion if they get punished by indian justice it can be a evil decision.

hi. i thought it was a given fact that these two fired and killed the two fishermen. there was only the problem of the jurisdiction since italy claims that it happened in international waters while india says it was in their territory.
correct me if i'm wrong but didn't italy give more than a hundred thousand euros to the families of these fishermen? i think it was to settle the civil liabilities that these two soldiers may have on them. i heard this on the news a few months back.
i think both the indian and italian courts will not be objective in determining whether this incident happened on international waters or not. an independent international body can judge this objectively.
india was right in demanding the return of these two to indian territory. their one month permit to return to italy was based on the guarantee of the ambassador and it was just right that they went back. otherwise, if governments cannot depend on an ambassador's guarantee, what will happen to the diplomatic relations between countries worldwide? an ambassador's guarantee is always honored and had a right to protest.
the legal battle rests in the perception the two soldiers had of the threat that the fishermen posed. they were on duty to defend the ship from pirates. they fired because in their perception there was a threat from the fishermen's side. whether they can prove this or not, i have no idea.
i am neither indian nor italian, by the way.
