I have had directv for years, recently we switched to dish. Made the switch to save money. I am still learning as I go about dish and its features. I was disapointed at first because they made it seem like you could record 6 shows at one time. That sounded great but in reality they recorded 4 of the shows during primetime in which I have no control over. I do like some of the shows but most of them just take up space. They have a feature that skips through commercials automatic. That is nice. Still annoyed by certain features but dish is growing on me. What do you think?

I used to have DirectTV when I lived in New Jersey. That was before the days of DVR's that recorded multiple shows and let you see them in more than one room. I liked DirectTv then because I got a lot of New York channels and they also gave you both the East and West coast feeds of many of the cable channels.
I now have cable in the Poconos. I considered getting DirectTV because of the lower cost but had reception trouble because of trees. I would not have been able to get the local network channels from Scranton. I still consider switching if I could get them to put the dish on a pole in my yard but one problem is that I would lose the New York, Philadelphia, and Allentown channels that I get with cable. Because I'm considered to be the the Scranton TV district they would not let me get New York channels without possibly paying more.
Dish would be the same but Dish seems to be going downhill. The first indication was when they dropped SNY which is the New York cable channel that carries the New York Mets, my favorite baseball team. They also dropped AMC and other channels for a while while they haggled over cost. Although they settled, Dish lost market share.

We had our fair ahare off dropped channels during negotiations with networks while we had directv. Directv is pretty deceptive about costs as well. I hope dish will be better.
