Cranberry sauce - fresh or canned ?

Which do you prefer and why? Do you hae a good receipe for fresh?

We enjoy whole cranberry sauce from a can. I tried to make homemade cranberry sauce a couple of years ago and it was so tart! It went uneaten. It was pretty to look at though!
