Useless....Everyone is arguing about this and that and of course not accomplishing anything as a result. Almost every day in our local news there are stories about kids being assaulted or "grabbed" by adults with evil intent. It happened again today. A young girl was grabbed and almost abducted. She was a smart young lady though and got away running all the way to her school. She reported it to her resource officer at school...The "Police" are looking into it.
Everyone says "Oh How Horrible, something should be done." Nothing is done though. This happens all the time. Often the child is lucky like this one and gets away. There is no excuse for this. I never let my kids even walk to the bus stop alone. I always picked them up from school and I worked 2 and sometimes 3 jobs while raising them...There is no excuse for a child to be alone in this nasty environment.
It will only get worse now that the government has made it easier and easier for perverts to get close to our children...

I agree. I don't understand why it's getting so much worse. There was a time when almost all kids walked to school and home again and no one thought anything about it. They went to the park and played by themselves. It would be disastrous to allow them to do that now.

More came out on the story last evening on the news...apparently this attempted abduction happened before spring break and they just now told the parents of all the children about it. In their infinite wisdom, the school and police decided that it was probably a one time thing and decided that they did not need to inform the parents of other possible victims...WHAT is going on here? They used to warn parents of potential trouble and it usually helps keep it from happening again...I guess they just did not want to be troubled...

Yes, letting perverts out of jail with no restraints has a lot to do with it. But there are so many any more! Our society is falling apart, with no morals or shame at all. The line between perversion and acceptance is so blurred that if it keeps on, child molesting will be accepted.
Shades of the old Roman Empire, rotting from within.

Like you, I am also a mother who gets scared over my kids' safety. It really is no safe place now, no matter where we go. For as long as there are people who has bad intentions, we would always be in danger of becoming a victim. But also, we hope that stricter implementation of rules as well as more police should spread throughout the city to ensure the safety of the public.

I also have to wonder how we got here? Here in the U.S., from days closer to "Leave it to Beaver" and "Andy Mayberry" to what we have now! I'm willing to bet somewhere along the line we made some poor choices, and still are.

All you have to do is look at old tv shows and compare them to today's shows and you get a big part of the answer.
When I was a kid we did not watch tv. Now that I can no longer afford cable, I have watched some of the old afternoon and evening shows. I did not realize that most of them had a "moral to the story". They taught kids right from wrong everyday in the shows that they watched in the afternoon. NOW all that kids see is perversion and brutality. There is the difference between then and now. Too many generations have been raised without morals because the parents are not even there to instill them and tv has gone perverse. Perversion has become the norm...
What I find interesting is the number of young girls who have the fortitude to escape from harm under their own power.

The priority of government, I'm afraid, is to become ever BIGGER government. (Til it squashes what is unfortunate enough to sit under it, namely, "the people".)

In this case, I do not think that it is just the government at fault. Morals in this country are passe'...They are not taught. Survival depends on the base instinct of the attacked. In this case the young lady was successful in avoiding harm.
If we do not return to a moral society, this will only get worse.
