This morning my son and I had planned to drive his dad to meet up with his business associate. As we are getting ready I told my son to get the engine running first. As I came out I saw him with two similar shoes but different types of colour. On the right is red and the other is grey! I was astonished and asked him what has happened that he wored the wrong shoes? He told me, "mom, it is in fashion now! So many people are wearing like this. I am going to get another color that is blue! So I could match that with the red instead of grey!" Wow! I thought he did not realized he wore the wrong shoe but instead he did it on purpose because of the trend that is going on now...! Goodness! Looking at the two different colors making me laughing non stop. It looks so funny to me and I insists him to change back to the right color. I told him, I would not want to go out with him wearing shoes like that which may draw a lot of attention from the public. haha! Have you had any such shocking and funny incidences?

Kids nowadays are really following the trend too much. During my campus time, there was this fashion period of wearing long pants being tight on hips, but broad and loose towards the leg and heels. This fashion used to be the time of our parents, and can be seen in those 60s singers, it is not latest trendy. So my lecturer told us that many youngsters may think that the fashion now are trendy, but least do they know the fashion are old-fashioned, some are even the fashion of our grandparents' time. When i heard that, it was so funny that i couldn't help laughing...because the trend cycle is just going round and round. It's not new fashion, but rather a recycled fashion.

Huh! The recycle fashion! It is very true, as long as it is new to the new generation they will think that it is a fashion of tren, hahaha! Probably the people are running out of ideas....that is why the recycle fashion comes about! haha! Just kidding. Thnaks for your sharing and happy mylotting!

I remember years ago a co-worker of mine had two sets of shoes with different colors. One was black pair the other a blue pair. She would have to get dressed in the dark because her husband got up later then her to go to work. Well low and behold one morning she came in with the same style shoe only one was black and the other was blue. We were all hysterical even her. She had to deal with it for the entire day because it was to far to go back home.

Huh! That is really funny and embarrassed for her. She has to bear with it for the whole day through and I guess that is really tough, long day for her.

I even bought my kids similar to those shoes hehe my youngest,3, i got him this shoe with a banana design on the left shoe and the right shoe is a design of a monkey. but i guess it is cute to see on little kids.. i am not sure if it is for teens hahaha but if it is in fashion..well its ok!

Oh, really? I do not know about the trend until I saw with my eyes with my son wearing it, haha! I thought he wss kidding initially. If it is for the kids it should be allright. But, my son is age 21 this year. It is rather weird and funny for me to go out with him like that even though it is in fashion. I just do not feel comfortable with it. Probably because of a big generation gap, that is why I felt that way. haha!

hi emily7339, seems like the same trend is coming up again nowadays. i remember during my campus days about 10 years ago, most of the students would go to buy different colours of slippers or shoes (especially those with bright colours). each will then exchange the other half with another friend and wear those out together. yes, you are right. it was done with the intention to draw public attention. but in order to do that, they have to first find a friend with the same feet size like them, before both of them purchase the same slippers or shoes but with different colours. funny right? but i don't practice that.

hi emily7339, i was not one of them maybe because myself will feel awkward if i were to go out alone in that manner. people will surely think that i wore the wrong shoe because it was very uncommon 10 years ago. it needs a group of people or at least 2 person going out together so that i don't feel awkward. but i don't usually hang out with friends so i won't do it myself. maybe it would be more acceptable in the society nowadays to have a single person wearing it out in that manner. in the past years, while i was shopping with my wife, i saw 2 pairs of leather shoes. both shoes share the same design, size, colour, material, brand, etc. the only difference between the 2 pairs of shoes was that one was with lace while the other was without lace. suddenly i had the idea of buying that 2 pairs of leather shoes for work, but intended to have one of my feet in the shoe with lace and my other foot in the shoe without lace. i told her about this idea and we both laughed. but i also didn't buy it in the end.

It is good that I read your sharing until the end or else I will be thinking you were one of them ! That is really weird and funny. I can't hold my laughter when I saw my son wearing shoes with different colors. It may be a trend now to him, but it is weird and funny to me . Perhaps, I am the older generation...I guess the designer must be running out of good ideas, that's why the trend is going round and round after some years

Hi emily, You can believe it alright one of mine almost went to a Wedding wearing bright yellow shoes and wearing an ordinary suit he said that it was the Fashion I said yea but sport shoes do not go well at all with an ordinary suit. Well he did not care he wore them around the house and then when he had gone out I noticed that he had eventually taken the proper shoes to the wedding to wear. I suppose my bit of advice put him off the idea although some of his friends do things like that wear those kind of "trendy Shoes" to Weddings and such.

Hi emily, You should have heard him muttering away, protesting for all he was worth as I said that those were not shoes for a proper wedding and his Friends might have gotten annoyed with him as well. Door slammed on me but it was not till I peeped round his bedroom door after and saw that the proper shoes had gone for a walk in the right direction. However he has had some shoes I can tell you bright red winkle pickers and they were in fashion here so I gave up in the end but for that Wedding it was just not on. I always tried to teach him how to choose a good suit and a good tie and shirt to go with it so I suppose something stuck in his mind after all. What he does it to go in those kind of shoes then when he is there he changes into the suit and puts proper shoes on lol.xxx

I imagine your son is around the same age as my teenage sons... One of mine collects shoes, he has more shoes than his other three brothers combined... And he often wears two different colors of the same styled sneakers that he has. He also has all the different colors of shoelaces for them. He would mix and match the shoes and the laces colors as well...

During my son's last semester break, I went with him to buy these shoes. I remembered now that I saw a lot of colorful shoes on the shoe racking for those shops in the mall. However, I never thought that these young ones could think of wearing them in different colors instead, haha!

I wouldn't find this shocking at all. I think that if my grandson came out like that it would be different. I would comment on it and let it go. Kids want to be different and I would certainly rather have different colored shoes than some other things they might come up with. I think that stifling their attempts to be different or to fit in is wrong. With in reason of course.

That is your choice but I just wouldn't make a big deal out it. I have found from experience that the more strict we get the more they will fight you and the trouble you will have. Sometimes you really have to choose the more important battles to fight against and let these things go by the way side.

Yeah, you may be right as he is in the new generation anyway. He loves to follow the trend but I just do not want to be out with him like that. If he goes out with his friend, that I won't mind. He just want to have fun. This is at least better than he comes up with other things that is really bad.

Oh, my son is an obedient child. I gave him a lot freedom to do what he deems fit. He is big enough to behave and responsible with his life. He is in year three of his engineering course now. We spent some time together this week as he has his one week semester break. I am worrying about him as so far he has proven to be well behaved. He drives to college himself all these while and he is law abiding, so I do not have worry for him breaking any traffic rules. As I told him to be responsible for his action and taken note seriously. He also serious in his study as compare to when he was a kid. He realized he has to be diligent and work for his goal in life. Overall, I am well pleased with him now. I am happy that you take time to interact with me. Happy Mylotting!

When my kids were teenagers they wore odd socks as fashion.flourescent socks they were bright orange on one foot with bright yellow on the other foot. That was high fashion till the socks wore out.We often see young men with their trousers hanging off their bottoms showing their underwear off.The young men walk down the road with hats .scarfs gloves on with their bottoms showing we do laugh. They must be freezing cold.Different coloured shoes thats a new one.I love the young people always something different to keep us amused. That has not hit England yet but I don't suppose it will be long

You are right, kids and youngsters are always after trend and do funny things that we never think of. However, we will be relieved as long as it is not something real bad. Thank you for your effort in responding to my post and great if we can be friend. Happy mylotting!

The best I can compare to this is having my fly open all the while when I was going home from work. The best thing about it is that I only got embarrassed when I was home. I'm sure it was funny to all the people who saw me while I was walking down the street.

Yes, sometimes they can embarrass us with their trends. I agree, as long as it is harmless then it is ok. I know there were times when I didn't want to claim my sons because of the way they dressed. Just kidding. I would always claim them. I was shocked when they wanted to have their ears pierced. I will try to view your posts as often as I can.

But, I just not feel comfortable going out with him like that. It makes me feel uneasy if ever we becomes the main focus in the public places. I am happy that you take the time to respond to my post. I think we just have to accept that we are getting older each day and could not cope up with the latest trend, he he. Who says that? Tomorrow I'll color my hair green just like one of the K-Pop Stars that I can see on TV. Well, I am not watching those, it is just that my daughter is watching and I am there. And from time to time she would shout names which I do not understand (Korean names) So that's it, if I would ask her she would tell me, never mind, I will not understand anyway. Going back to the topic, well, it is also good that sometimes we could laugh to our hearts content because of something new and unusual. Have a wonderful day!

Back in College, I was sporting long nails. And I was so fond of using different shades of pink and brown. Then one time, just out of the blue, I decided to wear a different color for one finger- my left pinky in white and the rest of my fingers in peach.

Well, things that make you laugh, if they see a lot. However, the case of wanting to leave the house with a shoe of one color and a different one, I think its a real joke! Yes, you're right, if you go out with her, even if it is fun, you will observe many people with genuine puzzlement. However, I also once had a strange habit. Shave my beard only half right. Who has noticed, I have been eyeing. But what is more "terrible", that is, less so, I have also presented at a job interview! According to you I was hired as an employee? Guess the answer!

Yeah, it is true. However, youngters nowadays like to follow trends. It seems it is the trend here now. He just do it for fun with the trend but not with me. It looks funny having shaving beard half right. Probably the interviewer would thing that you are in a rush or you may not have mirror to see while shaving? haha! So, they leave you out just because you did not present yourself decently? Well, many interviwers take the first appearance very seriously. If there are few rounds of interviews, they will focus on first appearance. However, this is not so true about oneself. I hope they do not jugde you by first appearance.
