. . . Is the sentence I told myself again and again as I watch the news about calamities, emergencies, poverty and other hardships in life.
I never thought I was a survivor too since I was never a refugee, not a victim of some kind, nor became homeless in some sort.
But I was wrong.
I was a survivor of poverty since my family struggled too whenever there is a recession of the economy in our country. When ever school year begins I can see how my family put together all the resources we have to just let me be educated. I am glad I have a big resource "the people who sent me to school". I am thankful for that.
I was a survivor of depression. I lost my brother to a very tragic way. He was stabbed on his chest on the way to school. At that time my mom wasn't around. She was working in another country. When my mom got the news of course was more depressed than me. It took her ten years to finally totally get up and move on. During those time I was depress too but I had friends and other people that kept me sane and going.
I was a survivor natural disasters too when I was in my hometown. Though we never became homeless or became a refugee. We struggled to get up every time there is typhoon. We get tired cleaning our home. We lost some memorable objects if there is flood. Some things are destroyed but we survived those loses.
I am happy that I am doing great now and I pray for all those who are experiencing pain, lost, depression and other traumatic situations. Hang in there. Be strong. Be hopeful. I never I thought I will survive some of the situations I have shared to you. Have faith. It is always easy to say, but it is all up to you if you will persevere to survive.
Have a great day everyone!

Yes, all of us are survivors in our own struggles and in our own circumstances. We have major struggles that we have gone thru and came out stronger. But it doesn't end. While we are living, we are to struggle everyday...with safety for the family, provisions, welfare, health, etc. Everyday is another day to struggle with.
But most importantly is that we have our loved ones to struggle with us, we have our God who knows our capacity and gives us the grace to move on, the One who gives us strength and peace and love.
Faith even is a struggle. Therefore, surviving with faith would probably result to meeting righteousness when we are finally in heaven. That would be glorious, right?
Have a nice day ;)

Hi,
I feel very sad after hearing about your past hard situations. Really you have survived from very hard conditions. Now you must be very strong and can face any difficulty in life. We should not lose our hope while facing problems. If we face problems with faith we can survive.

. Actually I feel happier than I can talk about these things now because it means I am mature enough to go through life's challenges. I am strong, yes, but still have weaknesses. In my weak moments I am thankful for having some people to help me always.
I agree, with faith we can survive

Sorry to hear all these things in your life. You have a lot of courage to face the life. Life is not an easy task for many in the world. For some it is a cake walk. Sometimes I wonder why there is such a disparity among people in this world. If it comes due to our mistakes, it is justifiable. Many times it is not our fault that we suffer.
Your words and experiences are encouraging to others here. I am sure they can draw energy from your words. You went through a tremendous series of life incidents that may handicap an average individual. You are of course an above average.

thank you. Indeed life is not easy. I know I am not alone. Maybe what kept me going is that I never stop believing there is light after each darkness. I am glad I can inspire others. The mental stress is the worst I have to battle with. I was depressed but happy that I was strong enough to keep myself sane.

There is one saying I will never let go of because it is so true.
"this too will pass"
I think those that share their personal experiences and write articles like I am a Survivor Too are giving other people hope and are an inspiration.
Thank you

. Indeed, this too will pass. But while in the process there was an unbelievable stress to handle. Thank you for valuing our experiences. We all give hope to each other.

every minute we are still here makes us survivors regardless of whether we face life threatening situations and I hope we don't for many years to come
