Some say it is a book of myths and fables. Others will say it is a book of half truths and cultural prejudices. The Bible is the most published book in the history of the world. The Bible makes the claim of being the inspired word of God, God's message to humanity.
The word "Bible" comes from the Greek word biblia meaning book which is derived from byblos an ancient Phoenician city where papyrus was exported. Papyrus is a watery reed which was used to make paper. The Bible is a collection of books. The Bible was written over a period of 1500 hundred years by more than 40 different authors from every walk of life on three different continents.
How can you say that the Bible is God's word, when it is written by different kings, popes, historians and various other people, who knows.
And why seven additional number of books for Catholic and why different versions and editions of it, surely it does not seems to be God's work. If it were, it should have been stable, it should have been single book without any differences, but is it ?
Is Bible God's Word, What do you think about ?

Hi Junior,
I believe that The Bible is the inspired word of God. God told the prophets what to write in each book. I don't think that The Bible is a fable at all. Did you know that the Bible has been proven to be one hundred percent factually and historically accurate on numerous occasions?

There will be many that will reason that the bible is not true. This has been actually written in the bible that many would turn away from God. There will be a cooling off of love as well. I think we can see this happening in the world. God bless those that stay united to him.

Hi Juniorance It is my understanding that the Bible was written by man (disciples) however it was from God through them they were able to put it into words.

Very true Laurenlynn it does have power. From someone who loves God it is a source of Great power. To those that do not believe the bible is real it can not be denied that the bible has had much influence in the world. It is one book that has been around for a very long period of time is very much part of mankind's history and that is a fact!
That is why some people today would like to do away with the bible and declare it only a false story book. We know it is not.

Look around you at this world, at the universe,at nature, the animals and creatures on Earth,at the complex eco systems that work in balance for millions of years. God adds up very well. Can you really say that about the Bible? Further, if you really knew God,it would be so clear that it is not a work of God. On the other hand, God is in everything. Lessons teaching people to Love Unconditionally do come from God regardless of what book incorporates them.

By your very words bird you have justified the Bibles existence. "God is in everything" Does the bible add up though? Does it make sense? The writing is on the wall. What does it mean?
Without love we really do not have a purpose or can we say we are closer to God without it. - from the book of bluedoll

If you read it and perceive the truths about life in it you will see its value. All this stuff about ancient sages and cultural this and that are the trimmings. Writings are not just about trimmings. The truths they contain is their value.

But they did and still do. Many people for different reasons I guess really hate Jesus, religion and even the idea of a bible. Many do not believe in such things and would like to see it all disappear. It was like that when Jesus walked the earth and it is still is.
Yes, love and respect is much better.

I am so sad for those people who spit and hit Jesus Christ ! My heart cries for this kind of people . If you don't believed in him then at least respect him ,spitting and hitting other persona is a sin ! Hurting others is a sin.

The fact that the bible was written by so many different men over such a long period of time only gives credence to the fact that it is the word of God. Some versions were written by men in an attempt to put the words into everyday English. However, sometimes they have taken liberties with the original text. The better translations are taken from the oldest known text. I did not know that Catholics have 7 extra books in their bibles. I'll have to ask my neighbor about that. Maybe some popes wrote them, because the bible that I use was completed before there was any man called the pope.

The question we must ask ourselves is how can we know that the Bible is the Word of God and not just a good book? What is unique about the Bible that makes the Bible different from other religious books? Is there any evidence that the Bible is truly God's Word? These are the types of questions that need to be considered if we are to seriously examine the claims of the Bible that the Bible is the Word of God, divinely inspired, and perfect in matters of faith and practice.

It's a draft for every person's covenant with their 'servants'. Sort of like an imaginary contract between 'the Servants you imagine' (your brothers-&-sisters as 'children of G*d') & 'the Master you imagine' (yourself as The Father).
The 'stories' of the Bible are "citations of The Father making good on his side of the covenant" (writing-out the imaginary contract that you vow to make good on the Master's side of the covenant, as you see those in your power make good on the Servant's side.)

We could think that the bible has nothing to do with God. It raises other questions like perhaps God does not exist or many others. This is natural for us to question. It can really come down to faith.
A single book would make more sense if it was actually written by God but it is not.
We could also say it makes little sense for Jesus to be a king or choose common men to follow him, it might appear strange that God inspired men that were humble and quiet. Yet in the bible we read God did do this.
When we think about it maybe it does not make sense that God would even bother with mankind for certainly mankind gives reasons not to. Yet God does. This however can not be proved only experienced.
I think of the bible this way. It is like everything else here on earth, not perfect but it is something we have.

It is collection of texts related to God, selected by the Church who claims to be inspired by God through revelation to choose only those who tell the truth. There are many other texts and gospels that were not chosen because are not suited to form the basic teaching of christianity.
After all, it is an act of faith if you believe that Bible is exactly what God means or not. I believe that it should be read and understood in its spirit, not literally.
I also believe God pretends different things from us, depending on our personal abilities, our talents. If we have an inclination for intellectual work, for researching, I suppose he wants us to find the actual meaning of the Bible. If we are simple people, just following what is written there should be enough.
