and it was amazing. we did not even know what movie was showing - just wanted to go out.
Well when we reached the movie theatre there was a sign saying all the seats were sold out. I was not happy as my GF had made a great effort to look good and wore a wig etc plus makeup. She is very thin now and so she looked really good - you would not know that she has stage 4 cancer.
She was upset as she had wanted to see the movie. So, I then asked to see the Manager and told my GF that I would plead for us to see the movie and would she look sick?
She giggled and wiped off her makeup.
Try harder, I pleaded. Take out your pill box and put it on the table and take little sips of water. Stop giggling, I told her, the Manager is coming.
So I took the Manager one side and had a little chat with him. And no, I couldn't come back tomorrow as I don't know how she would be feeling. He was so kind and cooperated with me.
The result was that we got seats as a few people didn't turn up. My GF said she wasn't up to supper afterwards but she did eat popcorn, half a hot dog, chocolate and drank a light beer.
I am not really into fantasy but ths movie was amazing and I so enjoyed it, even though I clutched hold of her a few times during the scary bits. But we laughed and had such fun.
Just to turn this into a discussion, have you seen this movie?

We will watch it when it comes out on DVD. I get Netflix so we watch stuff as it comes out. I have heard from several people that it is a must see. Glad you friend had a laugh and a good time. I had this one friend that she and I would get silly and laugh so hard we would nearly have an accident. I felt so good to laugh like that.

It sure is good for us. I have written several articles on it. I love Lily Tomlin, Bill Crosby and Robin Williams. A lot of their early stuff just has me on the floor rolling.

NO, I haven't seen the movie. U need to be on your own tv show, lol.I'm trying to think of a title for it.. Who but u would have gone to great lengths for your friend to see the movie . I'M sooooooooo glad y'all had a big time. She is very lucky & blessed to have u for a friend. before u have your own show on tv u will have to write a book of your life & all your adventures mostly self-inflicted, lol. Be sure to start w/your adventure w/the frozen turkey. i will never forget that .LOVE YA!

OZ is a good movie. It is entertaining. It is an adapted from the book called The Wizard of OZ. It was written by Lyman Frank Baum. However it is very much different from the original. There is no Dorothy and her friends, The Scarecrow, The Tinman and The Cowardly Lion. The book is much more complicated then the movie.

yes..i just get the chance to watch it last night..been playing cinemas here almost 2 months.
I think its a good film..
among the best of this year 2013 together with STOKER..WARM BODIES... THE CROODS.
i like how this prequel showed how much it honors and respect the older Wizard of OZ..in order to retain and not to ruin the great classic american family film Wizard of OZ..
really neat.
too bad i was late..and missed the iMax and 3d version..only managed to watch the digital version (2D) .

This discussion is more about your GF than about the movie. I think it's really heart warming that you care so much about her. She's a strong woman. And I'm glad your outing turned out well.
Anyway, I saw the movie last night. It was okay, it would have been better though if I had seen it in HD since the copy I watched was so horrible I can barely make out their lines and faces.

You two are funny. I'm so glad you got in to see the movie. I have not seen the movie. I really like several of the actresses in it. What did you think of the actor who played the magician? A lot of critics said they thought James Franco was miscast. Did you think he did a good job?
@cynthiann (18602)

Yes, I did. I thought he was perfect and not miscast at all. My favourite was the little china doll and then the monkey

I did not know what to expect really when I first went out to try see the movie even though it has been on my to-do list since last year. I was amazed that it was a visual delight than I expected. The story was easy to follow and the characters are pretty amusing. The monkey is so humorous!

Yes, I watched it a week ago. Totally agree with you.
It was really amazing. I watched it in 3D and it cost
us USD13.00 for 3 persons. My boss recommended me to
watch it by saying the Wizard is my husband, the China
doll is me and the monkey is him. The reason he said I
was the China doll because I used to said 'Blessed you'
whenever any of my colleague sneeze.
I enjoyed the colorful Garden of Oz and the stories
too.

I have not seen it. I do believe that seeing the movie and having this special night out and having fun can be as good for her as a lot of medicine. I am glad that you did talk to the manager, and what you told him was true. I find that often if you plead your case but are not demanding that people listen and take your needs and wants into consideration. We were on a flight once that got cancelled and a lot of people got mad. My husband just went and talked quietly and was booked into the next available a lot faster than the people who were screaming.

Yes, politeness can work wonders. Your husband did the right thing. The Manager was understanding that her energy levels fluctuate and that this was just a good night for her. We had a greal old time together and I hope that we can do it again soon

I don't know about the movie but the both of you sure could beat any box office and certainly that movie about Oz. My goodness, I wonder what it'd be like if the both of you were captured on film - if I'm in the committee, it's definitely nomination material!
No, I haven't watched this movie the both of you saw, instead caught another romantic movie "Straight A's" by a group of newcomers Anna Paquin, Ryan Phillippe and Luke Wilson in the cast. Quite a light hearted movie about a man returning to his home after being away for some time to his family finding himself with his nephew, niece, Alzheimer father and a sister in law who was his former lover. Lot's of catching up and all.

Now that film sounds like the normal every day dysfunctional family in action so that I think that I would love it. Seriously, I willl look out for it to come here

I'm so sorry that your girlfriend has stage 4 cancer but what a good guy you are. I love how you got the manager to get you in to the theatre. I like James Franco but I wasn't sure I would be interested in seeing this movie. Then we decided to see it and I really liked it. It was better then I thought it was going to be and I'm sure my grandkids will love it. I hope your girlfriend will survive so you guys can go to alot more movies together. God Bless.
