I have this professor in Integrated Calculus. He is very friendly and love to share stories when we see him not doing anything outside class hours. He told us once that we should learn to say thank you more, whether good or bad things happen. We should say thank you for the good things because it is a blessing, but bad things are also blessing as it give us chance to learn, have experience, and be more mature. I think he is right. What do you think?

We should always be thankful for everything around us. In everything that we do, wherever we are, the things that happen to us. It is all for the glory of God. Once we learn to say always "Thank you" we can learn the beauty of life. We will gain having the positive outlook in life. We can now be happy and contented. We can learn to forgive and rise from our mistakes. So always so "thank you" from the bottom of your heart.

I agree with your professor.
It is very important to say 'Thank you' as
it is the simplest way of showing appreciation
for everything that we receive in life.
It is also a "good manner" that we all must
learn in life and also teach the young ones
to practice at very young age.
I believe that the secret to happiness is
GRATITUDE. By being thankful and appreciative
of everything, we create happiness in our lives
and to others who are instrumental in giving or
sharing with us what we have received and
experienced in life.

All these great wisdom are true, but it is hard to achieve in reality. I think your professor is right, and we should learn to be appreciative in every situation. I am trying my best, and learn everything I can. Learning to say "thank you" whether it is in good situation or bad situation is a great experience to learn indeed. Hopefully everyone can understand it.

I do agree that there is something for one to learn even in the hardest day one can imagine. That is why we should appreciate everything happens in our life. However, we should not only thank the thing happening around us, we should also thank the people around us as they enriches our lives with different experience with some of them building everlasting memories. I do thank people always even though sometimes not explicitly said.

I think that your professor is right, It is often easier to be thankful for the positive things that happen, but the so-called bad things can also be blessings because they give us the chance to learn something and we are able to benefit from that experience in the future. Sometimes it takes me a while to appreaciate the "bad" things. When they happen I get hurt, sad, angry etc and I wish that I had been able to avoid that experience, but when some time has passed I am able to see the experience in a different perspective. I realize that it was unpleasant when it happened but I also gained knowledge and experience and I learned something from the situation.

As a child, I remember my parents would always tell me to say thanks to whatever help or a thing is given to me. And so I grew up that way. And that is how I have taught my kids as well.

Integral Calculus professor, I love Calculus both differentiation and integration. They were my favorite during my higher secondary. And the professor was also an interesting man. Yes, your professor said damn right. It's from the mistake we learn more and that helps us in the future. Our Chemistry professor used to say like that but in different ways.

I say thank you as often as I can. It is a way to show people respect, as well as to give them a little appreciate for their efforts. I just found this and thought I would share. Emily post and her encyclopedia of manners! I did not know people still followed her: http://www.emilypost.com/

he is right. i come from a country that saying thanks is really important what our parents teach us and we used to say thanks for everything... but i do not mean for receiving a slap lol... but for when we take lunch we used to say thanks to our mom, husband says to his wife, when we give or receive things we used to give or take with two hands and say thanks no matter if the one is younger or older than us.. it is good and i am so happy for it.. and the most important thing we should never forget is just saying thanks to God.. as all what we have is by him..

Yes, it is very polite to say thank you and very nice to the people hearing this from you. Saying thank you is such blessing because you know how to appreciate one's goodness.
