Is this true?

This after noon I was watching National Geography channel; in a programme it said, almost every home in Philippines has a gun, revolver or pistol for safety.
During my stay in Philippines none told me about this.
Is this true, is it easy to buy a weapon there; is license not required?
Here in India it is very difficult to buy a fire legal arm even for self-defense, it is equally difficult to get a license; but one can buy country made illegal weapons very easily at throw away price; one can buy smuggled stuff too, but it is illegal; if caught one lands in jail.

What is the scenario in your place, country?
Do you possess one for self-defense or shooting animals birds?
Here killing wild animals, a bird is illegal too, neither can you kill nor can you keep one as pet.
Please respond comment and share your views.
Thanks in advance. Professor Dr. Bhuwan Saraf. PhD. 4th April 4, 2013.
Cheers have a lucky day ahead.

Hello Uncle Ji,
In Bihar, we have same situation, in every home, you will find at least one rifle. Not to mention an illegal one but yes, you will find one.
As far as buying weapons is concerned, it depends, what kind of a person you are, the more civilized person you are the lesser a chance for you to get a weapon, however, for rowdies, they can get anything anywhere without any difficulty, thanks to the corruption in our country.
Now no one should hesitate in committing any crime here because this is what you can do after raping and killing a country on the roads of our capital...

I read news items telling that there are places where people go out keeping the doors of their homes open! That means there can be no threat of thieves in such places. I think such places are heavens on earth. Of course there are both the extremes in this world.
