Life in foreign land

April 4, 2013 9:22am CST
I went outside the country to work for greener pasture but then I wasn't able to maximize the opportunities since series of heart ache and unfortunate events happened in my life there. It was really hard and different when you are living from the other country and you missed a lot of things you used to do with family and friends.Do I really have to go beyond the parameters of such opportunities just to earn money or keep myself lock away here in my own country to earn? What do you think?

It all depends on your priorities and your main reasons for going there. What is it that you really want to gain in going there: a good job, more money, experience, relationship? It is a sad reality but you can't have it all there especially if you're main reason for going there is not really your priority, it just so happen that circumstances in your life forced you to take it up as your utmost priority.

Well said Raine38. We really can't have everything all at the same time and circumstances change and we have to make difficult decisions and actions in order for us to meet our goal in life.

Leaving one's country is a very difficult decision to make but if you have your reasons, why not. Seeking for a greener pasture in foreign lands is like putting up a business, not all who does succeeded. Homesickness and cultural differences are some factors that affects the determination of a person to succeed in a foreign land.

It comes with the job. If you want a high-paying job by working far away from your family, you also have to deal with the consequences that comes with it. If you want to be with your family, find a way to make it so, while also earning enough to raise them.

Lots of my friends in Trinidad tried this same thing and not all ended up happy, lets put it that way, it mostly depends on the opportunities you actually get and not on what you might want yourself.

weigh things that you prioritize most better to see the advantages and disadvantages of working abroad if it will cost so much for family matters then the decision will come from viewing both sides. Goodluck!!

The answer really to your question should come from you. But for opinion sake, and base from your statement, yes, you do need to. Why? Because you are doing it because you need to, maybe probably to help your family or to save money for the future. In getting the things we want in our lives, it never is easy. There are a lot of sacrifices to be made such as being away from the ones you love.
