Everytime I lift my left hand over my head.... I get the worse pain. It hurts so darn bad. I cant explain it. Its from the elbow, to my fingers. What do you think it could be? I am sure worried about it...

Sharp pain? dull pain? When I had elbow pain the first time it was tendinitis, the second time it was a stuck shoulder. See a doctor....

Hi Ladies.. This was my thought when I read the discussion...tendonitis. And, that does take a really long time to heal and it does sound like that type of pain. Glad you're going to the doc today to find out. It probably deals with the work you do at your cafe. Take care!

Sounds like something muscle related. Obviously I'm not a doctor and I wouldn't say don't visit one! You never know if it's something serious. But if it were heart-related, it seems to me that it would hurt regardless of position. You may have something that's rather out of whack and a certain position is putting pressure on a nerve. Or maybe your muscle is damaged and causing pain as you stretch. Try to deal with the pain and stretch the arm AS FAR as you can a few times, exercising it some. It will probably hurt, but if it's one of those "kinks," it might work itself out. I had a bad slipped disk a while ago and it caused compression on my nerves. Six months now and I still have spells of the nerve damage -- tightness in throat, pain in my fingers, tingling in my nose, etc. These pains aren't always life threatening. Many are just signs that we're getting older.

Well, something like a pulled/strained muscle won't always hurt. If it's in a relaxed position where it's not being exerted, it will stay relaxed and free of pain. But as you exert this muscle a certain way, then you feel the pain. Whereas something like a torn muscle is going to swell and cause pain regardless. So, to me, this doesn't sound like a serious issue you're dealing with. But it's always better to be safe than sorry!

Sounds like a 'deep bruise' inflicted by overworking your arm or -wrist, coupled with what you sense when your blood-vessels have to fight gravity to get blood to your fingers. Am I close? Feel better

When I have muscle pains I go to the Chiropractor as many times it is just something that is out of alignment. If it doesn't go away then I go to the Dr.

Don't let them remove anything until you have seen a Chiropractor. I had a friend who had a manly part removed from him only to find it was his back that was causing the problem. They were already to remove something else when a friend had him go see her Chiropractor. I go a least once a month and would go more if my insurance paid for it. My daughter is a message therapist so gives me a treatment once a week and that helps a great deal.

I would be extremely concerned as you have stated it's your left hand, as your heart is on the left side, have you strained it, or laid on it? I would definitely seek medical advice from your GP, at least to put your mind at rest.

Hello Maria, Does sound like a rotator cuff injury that is exactly how mine happened and it can take ages to heal. There is no pain like that one its absolute misery I know. You have to see someone a Specialist or your own Doctor for the pain at least. Can take ages to cure but now I can move my hand to my back again so don´t despair.xxx

hello there mariaperalta, i do also encounter some pains but its more on my back going down to my right shoulder. and i guess, its a part of growing older (kidding aside ) seriously, perhaps that pain resulted from muscle fatigue. maybe try to consult a physical therapy that can ease the pain through a massage.
• Philippines
4 Apr 13
hello there, wow, you really divulge your age. and you bluntly say it across here. anyway, with that pain, try to apply a hot compress or maybe a liniment for a while then drink a pain reliever so it can ease up the pain. hope you get well soon, friend.

Are you feeling some tingling sensation or pure pain? Maybe you just had your arm in a position for a long time that made your arm feel that way. have you tried wriggling it? Or did you carry anything heavy which might cause the strain? Try taking some analgesics. If the pain stays until after today, then have your arm checked.

Is it the side where you slept the night before? Coz maybe that is why you are experiencing the pain.

It could be a pinched nerve or carpal tunnel syndrome. I would see a doctor. I have to go to the doctor also tomorrow. I have had this pain in the upper left side of my back near the shoulder. It feels as if someone is stabbing me. I am not sure if it is gas a a pinched nerve. So if I were you I would go to the doctors.

maybe a pinched nerve? I'd have it checked out if it doesn't get better soon. I hope it gets better for you. Is that the only time it hurts? I have tendonitis and it hurts a lot. Maybe it's something similar.
• Mexico

Not sure, but would nt that hurt all the time? this only hurts when I lift my arm up high.

I'm just thinking maybe you've maybe strained a tendon or ligament, my tendonitis doesn't hurt all the time, some times if i move the wrong way.

If it hurts when you do that, then don't do that! Seriously, I had a doctor tell me that... HA! HA! Does it matter HOW you lift it over your head? Like, it doesn't hurt so bad if you hold it close to the body while you lift it but hurts really bad if you have your arm stretched out when you do it? I know what I would do. I would go to my doctor (not the one who told me the above, I stopped going to him right after that!) It sounds to this lay person that it might be a nerve pinched, probably in the neck.

One of my parents actually had a similar problem. However, the pain did not come from just that position that you described, but rather any hand movement in general. It is called spontalouses. You can read about this on the internet. He had this problem for a long time, but I can't even remember what remedies he took to ease this pain. I hope you get better though. Hands are probably the worst are to have pain, especially since one uses them to type on mylot!
