I'm a Filipina.
I was born and raised in the Philippines and have lived there for all of my 35 years.
And now I am living in NY state.
I've been hear only 5 days.
It's beautiful out here but it's soooo different from home and it is coooold!
I hope summer will come soonest and I can feel the warm weather again.
And I cant wait either for all the trees and plants to turn green and all the flowers to bloom....
So far I'm adjsting pretty good to everything...
But I do miss the warm, sunny days at home...and the noise of the people...
Different life now...

I'm happy for you, if it's for the better why not, I know most of us have this capability to easily adjust to any decision we have made. There are many filipinos in most countries, you name where and most probable there are.
Anyway, I just hope you can adjust quickly with the weather in NY which is the extreme here.

Yes I am one of those who can easily adjust to decisions made. And I do believe that this widening of my horizons would do me good.
Well, I just found out yesterday that there's new store in town which is really small but it's owned by a filipino couple who moved here only last year.
I will definitely visit the store and get to know my kabayans there!
According to the weather forecast, it will get warmer this week. yay! I'm looking forward to it!

Nice. After 35 years, why move there? I'm pretty sure I'd also miss the sun here in the Philippines, too, no matter how irritating it is most of the time. I'm never comfortable with cold areas, even in the office. I'm always the one who turns the air conditioning down because it's too cold.

All I can think is why NY? I assume you are in the city and not upstate NY...

Hello!
No, I'm not in the city. I'm upstate...in a little town called Saugerties.
It's 45min. from the capital Albany.
I've always dreamed of going to Europe and New York never made it to my list of places to visit but I ended up marrying a man from here....so here I am!
It's a charming town and i do like it here a lot...it's just really cold still.

Hi ljlisas! Welcome! We're both in the same boat. I am also a Filipina and I just moved here in the US, been here for over 2 months now. And you're right, it's a huge adjustment most especially in the weather and food department. I have sent you a friend request, I hope we can be friends and share our experiences in our new home.

Hello Kabayan!
Hahaha. I'm glad to come in contact with a fellow filipina!
I have no qualms about food coz my husband likes variety and he loves to cook.
He cooks italian, american, chinese, and he even know how to make adobo already!
I can live long periods without rice so I'm fine. It's mostly just the cold weather. lol.
So where in the US are you? And why did you move here?
I'm really happy to meet you!
Let's keep in touch regularly!

adjusting to a new environment with a different climate is not easy. you will have to cover yourself well everytime you go out since you're not used to the cold weather. don't worry, spring is here. soon the days will be warmer and the plants will "come to life again".

Yes, you can say that again!
Especially for one like me who came from an extremely hot and humid country to a really cold one!
Even inside the house i'm all covered up. hahaha...
Yes it's getting less colder since I got here a week ago and yesterday we went for a drive and the fields are getting a bit more greener!
I'm sure in a week or so it will get greener still.
I am so excited for summer to come coz I can envision this place already...it is such a beautiful town! Full of trees and green fields!
