The campaign period for the local election has been started and posters are being place everywhere. Here in our place there are some candidates that place their campaign materials in every vacant walls available even it was a private walls making it like a mosaic which is really an eye sore. Even in electrical post. You cannot identify them already as post. Tree are not exceptions too. There are many poster hanging on the trees too.
Worst, after election, these will be left there until they are torned.
I know that there are many regulations regarding placing of the campaign materials like posters and leaflets. If this will only implemented strictly, many candidates will be disqualified.
How about you fellow mylotters, how does your place looks like during this season of election?

We can actually report those violators at Commission on Election for proper action. We have a few banners in our place as of this date for some reasons.

I know we can do it but I know that candidates will already have a prepared excuse for this one. I just hope that the one I will post on my blog will catch the attention of others especially the authorities.

I don't know why COMELEC here in our city is not doing anything about this vandalism. It is aired on the radio almost every morning about people complaining for those campaign posters hanged everywhere.Yet COMELEC remained silent about the issue and no actions were taken.

One huge mess! And to think that the campaign period should last until next month plus the enormous garbage to add up during election day!

This mean that the mess I currently seeing will be added with more banners posted on the walls as well as trees.
I wonder if they are going to clean these mess after the election.

yes, but here in our place, there are no MMDA, the local or baranggay officials or workers will be the one that will clean those mess. Or worst, the owner of the walls will be the one to clean the said trash.

They'd probably leave that out for the MMDA people to clean it for them.....as usual....

We have strict election campaign regulation, every party 's candidate is required to clean up his own mess on campaign materials like sign, banner, flag, leaflet; manifesto and poster a week after the official balloting is over, any campaign materials left in public places and become an eyesore to the local municipality will give the candidate's political party the privilege of getting a fine of several hundred to thousand bill for cleaning up his mess. It had been enforced by election committee with some success so far, every one has co-operated willingly and our street is clean with no left over election campaign litters to bring eye sore to the city yet.

I think such regulation is not implemented in our place. You can really see evidences in spite of the rules and regulations of the COMELEC. I just hope that this will be cleaned again as soon as after the election.

I am glad that here in our place, the putting of campaign materials is not rampant. There may be some who placed them in trees but they can just be counted.
And i didn't see posters in walls this time around. I hope it will remain this way the whole election campaign time.

Good that your place remained clean-looking. I hope that in our place the cleanliness will be restored after the election. I hope that those named appeared in the banner will help in cleaning out the trashes even they failed to get a position.

Exactly. They are the one who does those trash, they would be the one to clean them. Or else, the local government may sue or file complaint against those individuals whos names appeared in the posters.

It's the local government who does the cleaning after an election. But it will really be great if the losers will also participate.

They are actually trash that really sore the eyes. We cannot help it especially during this campaign period. I believe there are some provisions that do not allow this but our laws are really not functional. Funny thing is that those who created the law are those who violate it as well.

That is what i am hoping too. I think in the baranggay level alone, they can already give some provisions with regards to posting of the campaign materials. Baranggay is the smallest unit of community and they can implement those provisions if they really want to make the community neat looking.

I thought it was only here in our place. Yes, some posters were being covered by a poster of the other candidates. I was wondering that perhaps they planned to put those posters too in the roads.

We will be having our general election soon. The parliaments and states assembly were all dissolved today. The banners, flags and posters are definitely expected to be seen everywhere during the period of campaigns. Actually right now, we are already seeing flying flags along the streets.
Fortunately, strict guidelines had been defined and need to be followed by the candidates. The campaign materials are not allowed to cause any troubles and pose any threats to the local communities, otherwise they will be removed if any violation was found.
Despite those stringent rules, we still observe people violating the guidelines occasionally by ignoring the public safety. Some banners are blocking the important traffic sign boards and some others are potentially causing a short circuit to the electric cables. Road accidents or a fire could happen if they are ignored.
Fortunately, the materials need to be cleaned up within certain permitted period after the campaigns. Therefore, the threats mentioned above might not last long. Besides, I hope the election authorities could act more vigilant and inspect the areas diligently to remove potential threats if they are seen.

Just like here in our country, there are already guidelines when it comes to the use of banners and posters, however, there are still violators of the said guidelines. When the authorities questioned them, they have already prepared answers to it making them excused of the said violations.

Hi,
It is more pronounced in big cities and towns when a lot candidates run for their respective offices. In our place, there is not much that many, one reason our walls and trees don't suffer much. It is an election offense to post billboards or any campaign material on trees according to the Commission, people follow it strictly here, it is too easy for a contending candidate to look for loopholes in his adversary, one photographic evidence of his billboard on a tree and the file for disqualification is on. However, there's a defense to that, it would be possible to take any poster, transfer it to a tree and take the shot. One reason the COMELEC is slightly lax on this guidelines unless a very probable cause is presented by the complainant.

Good for you that the candidates in your place follow them strictly. I am really planning to take photos of the said materials and send it to media and ask if that is acceptable.
I agree with you, there are laxity in the implementation of the rules. If COMELEC will really implement the rules religiously, many will apprehended and will learn from it.

they are just polluting the environment with waste and it contaminates the entire air which is bad ideally

Definitely. Not only pollution but an eyesore too. I just wonder who among the candidates will have an advocacy on saving the environment. This the one I see, no one really cares for the environment since they all put trash.
I also wonder if these candidates will help in cleaning the trashes even they will lose in the upcoming election.

During election our place, or should I say in every place it looks like a smokey mountain. It is filled wit so many trash. The Commission on Election (COMELEC) is very strict when it comes to the banners and poster. You can take a photo and send it to their social media account.

I agree with you, every corner you look at, it looks like trash.
I did it already. I was just preparing my blog post and will send the link to social media. I hope this will help in getting the attention of the authorities.

Fences and walls are adorned with various sizes of posters and banners of these political aspirants. Many of them are from local candidates who have supporters within our area. I am not particularly peeved except that they have to do the cleaning up after the elections. The problem is their utter disregard to remove the posters which is definitely an eyesore. The barangay has to pay some individuals to do the cleaning up which should not be so. Looks like the common poster area is not being followed and nobody is lifting a finger to control the irregularity. Even electric posts and trees are not spared.

I agree with you. I really wonder who cares to clean the said trash especially if the candidates failed to get a position in the election.
Here in our place, not only walls and fences but even trees, electrical post as well as bridges. The warning paint in the bridges were already covered with posters making it really dangerous for the motorist.

i agree with you there.. people or the staffs of the candidates who just put banners everywhere should be lectured about proper placing of banners it should not be put anywhere or if they see that its a vacant wall immediately they will put a poster there which is wrong.. they should also seek a permission first because some just put it in front of your gate without asking a permission.. and what more can we expect from them after the election it will be just left behind..

Yes, I saw some banners posted on the gates and walls of private individuals. These banners are the one being paste with the use of glue or any adhesive which needs to be wet and scrapped when removing which is really hard for the owners to remove.

As of today, I haven't seen any political trash around. But for sure, upon proclamation rallies, there will be much garbage around mostly of leaflets and banners. However, if these politicians will give only T-shirts, I won't believe there is a single garbage around...hehe

Good for you that you don't see such trash in your place unlike ours especially along the road. Some houses were being pasted with posters and banner. I wonder if they gave any permission to the one posted it. Some were being posted at night.

I just can't help myself to hate those candidates that hang there faces on every wall, trees and posts in our city. It is so irritating.
Yes, I agree with you, I hope COMELEC will strictly implement this. If they can't follow such simple rule, how can they be good role models of our country?

I agree with you. Even those who placed the posters and banners are just their staffs or paid individuals, the candidates should still give notice or precautions on the rules and regulations with regards to posting of banners.

The same. Lawn after lawn there are red and/or blue posters. They block realtor signs and other signs. They stay up long after election day. When I see a lot of the same poster in multiple yards I don't think that the people living there are actual supporters. Leaflets stuck in my mailbox are annoying enough. The leaflets stuck in my door drive me crazy. I can't open the door without papers flying out. There have got to be better ways to get your name and views to the public.

Even they follow the rules of the COMELEC's guidelines on the size of the posters, they will post it on walls side by side covering the entire wall. Electrical posts were not excused even private posts. The other day, I was a woman removing the poster in her fence. She was really angry wetting and scraping the posters.
