I've only lost one cell phone and that was a long time ago.
I was filing for a divorce in the courthouse. I had to walk through a metal detector and put my purse on a conveyor belt to be X-rayed before I could get into the courthouse.
I made it in, filed my papers, then left to go home. Once home, I realized that my phone was missing. I couldn't understand it because I knew I had it with me in my purse before I left for the courthouse. I searched my car, re-traced my steps but could not find the phone.
There was only one answer, my purse had tipped over inside the X-ray machine and my phone fell out. So, I called the courthouse. They said that they had found a phone in the X-ray machine so all I needed to do was to prove it was mine (by giving them my phone number and the maker of the phone), then they told me to come back and pick it up.
Since that time, I've been extra-cautious about my phone.
It sounds to me like you should invest in or make a holder for your cell phone that attaches to you somehow, maybe like a small shoulder bag that you put over your head or a necklace kind of thing to wear around your neck. It may not be all that comfortable but at least you'll know where your phone is and won't lose another one!
Have you tried to call your phone number with another phone to see if you can hear it ring? Maybe someone else found it and is willing to bring it to you if you call your number and let them know where to meet you.

I lose my cell phone all the time and am often going a couple days without it until it happens to turn up. Overall it's usually not too big of a deal when I lose my phone because not too many people get a hold of me on my cell phone. Pretty much the only thing I use it for is talking to friends rarely and more importantly for getting called into work.
I do get kind of disappointed when I miss being able to pick up a shift because I couldn't find my phone or because it wasn't charged up.

I lost my second mobile phone when I was traveling at one of our local scenic spots many years ago. Back to then I was at the top of the mountain enjoying the beautiful scenery. I wanted to take a photo and left my mobile phone on one of the stone tables there, but I forgot to take it away with me after I left the top of the mountain. When I got to the bottom of the mountain, I remembered my cell phone and immediately made a call to my own cell phone by using my colleague's. It was ringing on the other side, but when I went back to the top of the mountain, I was upset to find it gone. This was an unpleasant experience of mine. I am now very careful with my belongings. Take care and thank you for the discussion.

It was not me who has lost the phone. It was my husband's nephew's phone- iphone 5. He had to put up all the drama for his grandmother so that she'd feel sorry for him. And when the drama worked, she game him the money to buy the phone. But this kid is a bit boastful. So just 2 months after, he was a victim of a stick up. The man took his phone and went off. he was probably been seen using his phone on his way to school.

I have lost my cellphone six times and stolen twice, so the feeling is understanding here. I think it would be useless if your phone is the conventional featured ones or a security uncustomized smartphone even if it is stolen as in my case. The police will not be bothered to trace it via the cellular phone network providers.
However, if have security customized your business cell phone or smart phone, you can actually access it remotely with another cell phone to lock up information like contacts and short messages in your phone, limit the phone to receiving calls only and even let you know the new mobile number if the user decides to change the phones SIM card.
These are the new features available on all smartphones and limited business or regular featured cellphones which you may want to consider on your replacement purchase.

One day, wile going into wlamare with my daughter, the purse I had flipped upsiede down, and my phone fell out. I didn't know it at the tiem, and so my daughter and I went on shopping, not realizing that I had lost it in the parking lot. My daughter received a phone call from a lady, who said that she had found a cellphone in the parking lot, and wondered if she knew who owned it. come to find out, she had found my pho0ne, and she had the smarts to call a contact on the list, which just happened to be my daughter. I am so grateful, that my daughter was with me, as I got it back, and I am also thankful, that the lady was legit, and didn't decide to keep it. Actually, I guess you can say, I only lost it for a short time, and then it was found. Other than that, I have never lost any phone, that I had to replace because it was completely lost. I keep my phone in my purse when I am out and about, and keep it zipped in my purse so it won't fall out, as it is an expensive phone, and I wouldn't want to lose it to have to replace it. Take care, and have a good day.

Thanks for this discussion i am sorry to hear this, yes i have lost 3 in the past, i have mobile tracker installed, means if one changed the SIM it sends a message to my son's phone; but in reality it was of not much help.
Complaining police has no effect, so just forget and relax.

By far, I have lost 3 mobile phones. The last time was last October 2012 . It is depressing, losing your moblie phone especially when you have to replace your number again, acquire your contacts from scratch and of course, the sentimental value of the phone.

Sad to hear about this. Did you find your mobile phone? As you mentioned it is a costly phone. So it is really hard to tolerate the pain. Once i missed my costly phone. I used the IMEI number to identify the mobile and found it is in the cloth store where i went for shopping. Luchily l set my wedding photo as the wall paper of my mobile. I went to the shop and the owner provided my phone without asking more questions.

Yes, I've lost my cell phone before. It happened several years ago. It was a very basic phone (no text, camera, bluetooth, etc). All it did was make and receive calls. It did bother me that I lost it as I liked having it for emergencies and whatnot. However, I wasn't so bothered by it that it stopped me from eating. It's just a phone, after all. Fortunately I was able to retrace my steps from the day I lost it and was able to find it. It had been at a bookstore. Apparently it had fallen out of my purse when I was there and hadn't noticed that it was gone until later on. After I figured out where it was I went back and told one of the employees that worked there and they were able to retrieve it for me.
Happy mylotting!

I have lost my sell phone more times than I can count. It is just a cheap one and I always found it. Now if I had an expensive one then that would be different. I would be mighty upset. There were times when I wished I hadn't found my phone. I kind of like it when it isn't ringing all the time.

Luckily, I have never lost my cell phone. I was in college when I had my first cell phone. I used to be very careful with it. As Vidhya Prakash has said he searched his phone through IMEI number, you should also try to track it with this number. You must ask him about the details as to how you can search for your phone.

I lost like 5 cell-phones in my life. I don't know how it happens, every time is a different story and I guess the common thing is that I didn't payed enough attention to it. It was depressing always and I reach the conclusion I don't deserve a good one anymore.
For years I have an old one and nobody feels anymore the temptation to steal it. If I forget it somewhere, it will sure be there when I will turn back.

I'm sorry to hear that you lost your 13 days old cellphone. I knew some of my friend who also had the same experience like you. Being depressed because your phone was gone is normal especially when you really worked hard in order for you to acquire the latest mobile phone. You should learn from it. after sometime you'lle get over it. next time pay attention on your valuables so you will not encounter the experience you are in now.
