The worst host(ess) of a TV show

I would like to nominate Joan Rivers for this. When she started as a comedienne, she based a lot of her routine by making fun about herself and her husband as well as other Hollywood personalities. Today, however, she is a 79 year old woman and her husband is dead. Somehow, she got to be a 'critic' for stars as they walked on the red carpet for award shows. Really, what does she truly know about fashion. She parlayed that into a show on cable called Fashion Police, which she has used lately to make strange or cutting remarks about stars. Her remark about what German Heidi Klum was wearing and referencing the Holocaust is downright bizarre and her follow up to justify the comment was lame. Next she calls out Adele as being fat and follows that with another non-apology. Next she insults Ann Curry. The comments about Adele and Curry were not funny but were meant to be hurtful.
Rivers should take a look at herself, if she still can. She's a 79 year old woman who since 1983 has been addicted to plastic surgery trying to keep herself young. She's had so much work done, that today it looks like her face has melted and she looks hideous without makeup. With makeup, she looks like if she wore a long black wig that she would resemble the re-animated Vampira in the movie Plan 9 From Outer Space.
It's sad to see her act this way as a means to try and stay relevant but to me it just shows that she's bitter about the downward trend of her career.

It is obvious but natural attitude for a carrier woman now on the end line of her carrier. She wants to be on the go but human nature has always a limitations. That's means the mind is willing but the body can't. We, observer are always feeling nasty of what they are doing, but that's it, that's life.

I disagree. Betty White is over 90 years old and has had a career resurgence as a comedienne but has avoided controversy. Betty has also had plastic surgery but not to the drastic extent that Rivers has had.

I agree. I have never understood how anyone could like her. But then I also don't understand why Katie Couric is so popular. Besides having a voice that is very irritating, Couric has shown on the very few times when I have seen a very small part(waiting for something else to come on or something) of her talk show that she is quite poorly educated and makes really stupid remarks and asks really stupid questions; especially for someone who used to report the news.

Did you see her have all those GH actors on her show last week for the 50th celebration? I remember how scared she was her first year of GH fans boycotting her. Somehow when she honors people in soaps I feel like she's saying, see? I do support daytime drama!

She also has a reality show with her daughter which isn't much better. I don't think she should insult anyone considering her face makes her look like a wax figure. She's had so much botox that she can't even smile normal. I never really liked her and think like you said she needs to look at herself.

It's not just Botox, it's also all the face lifts and eye jobs. Her smile in one photo I've seen makes me think she could replace Jack Nicholson as the Joker in a Batman movie. She'd need less makeup.

The reason she gets away with the Holocaust stuff is because she's Jewish, although that doesn't mean Jewish organizations were okay with it. They were outraged. But because her family has actual history with the Holocaust, I'm inclined to let her say what she wants. Even if I find her offensive. I feel sad for her because her husband killed himself. That must have been hard on their daughter. The only redeeming thing about her to me, is that she makes fun of herself just as much as she makes fun of other people. She is harsh on herself for being old, for plastic surgery, for being a witch (I don't cuss or I'd choose another option). She has openly admitted she's on Fashion Police for comedy, and the fashion commentary is more appropriate for the other panelists. Although I have to say, Kelly Osbourne often makes me wonder what qualifies her for the job on the show. One thing that never goes over well is making fun of Adele. You CANNOT get away with making fun of Adele. Other heavy women seem to get heat for it, but people universally love Adele, including me. No one laughs at any joke made of Adele. And I also have to give credit to Kelly for the weight jokes. She doesn't laugh and is very open about saying they offend her. She remembers when she was mocked for her weight. The only exception seems to be Christina Aguilara. When Kelly was fat, Christina made fun of her. Now that Christina is rather plump, Kelly doesn't care if a joke is made about Christina's weight.
Man, I know way to much about this. I admit I watch it on occasion because it makes me laugh. I really like the guy on the show, and some of their guests I'm a real fan of (recently they had one of my favorite football players, along with one of my favorite actresses).
So besides Joan Rivers, I'd have to give my worst host or hostess of a TV show to Rosie O'Donnell. Thankfully, she doesn't seem to have a platform right now.

Hi Burrito I really have to agree with you here I used to find Joan Rivers funny but I stopped watching her as I find she does go too far at the cost of someone's feelings. She just does not know how and when she should not carry on with her offensive mouth. I use to watch her and her Daughter (I cannot remember the name of their show) but I sometimes felt she even embarrassed her daughter at times. I think she only does what she does for the money and this will be or has become her downfall.

I think she is typical of a fading star. She's been doing a reality show, she's been on Celebrity Apprentice, and she calls in to Howard Stern's radio show. It's all a way to try to recapture what she once had.

I do not keep up with her or her remarks. Maybe she is just old and doesn't care anymore. She is rich and keeps getting on tv, someone must like her and her opions and views on celebs. Again I don't know what she said but maybe it was what we were all thinking but not saying.

I heard about her comment to Adele and thought it was wrong. I'm not sure why Joan Rivers was picked to have a show called the Fashion Police. I haven't watched it and won't even consider watching it. Joan and Melissa are on the television a lot and understand she has a new talk show. There must be a lot of people that like Joan and Melissa Rivers. I saw one episode of them on Celebrity Apprentice and listening to them yell at each other wasn't something i would like to do again.
Joan has had a lot of plastic surgery. She has said its to make her look younger. I don't know what she would look like today, if she hadn't been under the knife so many times. I know woman have a harder time getting acting roles when they age and so many actresses are getting some work done to look younger. Lately, I have seen a lot of actresses change their hair color and sometimes it can be hard to tell who the actress is today.

I saw the comment to the person that thinks its age. The talented Betty White is a great example of how women can be brilliant and not make others feel an inch or less tall. I watch Betty's Show on NBC and laugh so hard I'm crying at times. My youngest daughter loves the show also and she watches it with me. Betty is truly a star.

The only people I know who hated oprah were men. She was good when sha was fat. After she slimmed down she was a little too fake. I loved dr phil at 1st. Now he is all about addicts. Dr oz seems strange to me.
