A lot of lyrics of songs don't make sense!

Listening to a song is not only about the beauty of the rhythm but also the lyrics that come with it. The lyrics come first actually coz a song is supposed to be words that are spoken with pitch and rhythm.
I like listening to music in general. I sometimes get curious what is really being said in some of the songs I listen to. The thought from one sentence to the next is not even coherent. But that is the point, one sings to express a thought or an emotion that does not have to have just one meaning. It only becomes clear when the words are uttered with a beautiful voice and a musical accompaniment to even give a better understanding for the listener.:)

I agree..not that you can follow or understand the lyrics from some songs (which brings me to thinking of misheard song lyrics!),but some songs, when you CAN read them, the lyrics are almost nonsensical..they're choosing words to fit the rhyme or the melody and bashing a square peg into a round hole!

I get so fascinated with the words used but indeed they were just put there to rhyme. More like nursery rhymes. Or should I say ,nursery rhymes are even worse!

I think most of today's song lyrics are don't have any meaning, its like the most popular songs today, are the one with nice party and clubbing music (i really like it, tho) so right now a song is more about how the music can make you dance like in the club! Like Will.i.am ft Britney Spears, Scream Shout, Justin Beiber ft Nicki Minaj, Beauty and a Beat, Pitbull ft Christina Aguilera, Feel This Moment, i love those songs tho! Hehe...

Especially with club music, there would only be just a sentence or even just a phrase repeated again and again. So just get that groove inside your body and dance with it.:)

To me undertanding the meaning of what they are saying is not the problem it's understanding the actual words. This is especially the case if I like a song enough to sing along with it but can't tell what all the words are. That having been said, I listen to music for the music and not the lyrics. When I hear a song for the first time I couldn't care less what the words are or the meaning behind the song because if I don't like the way the music sounds then I'm not going to listen to the song enough to learn the lyrics or get the meaning of it anyway.

I totally agree.. although the first thing that i notice is the rhythm, since that is the first thing that attracts listeners.. I do look up the lyrics alter on, and some of them do not make sense or are just repetitive.. which is not very good. But there are still some artists who make good songs , with good tone and lyrics(meaning).

I agree, I think they just use words that rhyme although they don't even do that anymore. There are still some songs out there that tell a story, but they are getting fewer and farer in between.

that´s right ... i don´t like music that doens´t express that the emaning doens´t come to my ears it´s really just stupid and senseless. It´s on of the reasons why i don´t like some gners of music because it just doens´t touch me at all.
But I guess the rhythm it´s very very important too and the voice and everywhintg the beat the background sound if the music has.
Everything that completes harmony and melody than with the writters imaginations music it´s like composing a story.
I guess some lyrics are quite hard to know the menaing because sometiems it´s twisted and maybe more deep than we think ! but it´s really great to know what it means in generaly and for the writter and for us because that´s what make us better while listening to it

i listen to all kinds of songs, from meaningful to fun songs. but most especially a song becomes special and beautiful if apart from the nice tune and rythm is has a beautiful and meaningful lyrics or words you can relate to and be inspired with as you play it and keep listening to it. also how the song is rendered and sung by a beautiful voice makes it even great.
