So many of you know I'm in the good ole US of A and although we get many news stories about the UK- you never get the real sense of what people feel - unless you are there. When William married Kate it was HUGE news over here..I mean they shut down regular programming to air the wedding on most stations. Every news program was talking about it, their union, her dress, her family, Diana, etc...
My question is are William & Kate loved in the UK like our media here portrays here by citizens of the UK?
I personally think she is a sweetheart, or so she seems to be by what the media here portrays. But I remember the public break-up they had not long before he asked her to marry him. Now with the news of her pregnancy of course we hear much about it.
Also,
Im just curious- I come from a place where we have a President- I have never experienced having a Queen or King in charge. Is it much different? And I always get confused by the names they are given..for instance I just learned today that William & Kate are known in Scotland as the Earl and Countess of Strathern. Do all those married into the "court" (for lack of a better understanding on my part I use the word court).

I live in the United Kingdom. Years ago the folk were very keen on Lady Diana. Now we have a new sweetheart called Kate and she married Price William. Almost every person is excited about Kate's pregnancy. I know the couple as William and Kate. They make the royal family more interesting again. Having a King or Queen isn't all that different from having a president. The family were born royal. A person can marry into the royal family.

Its interesting to me I guess just because I was born and raised into a world where we learned about Kings & Queens but never experienced them.

a recent poll showed that they are deeply loved and the public wanted to see more of them but the Queen, wisely, is giving them sometime on their own without too much attention in the public eye. No, they have tiotles but they do not have a court. She lkives in a home with security and he goes to work. He flies helicopters in rescue and help missions. They are wonderful young people. Their break up was about two years before they got married.
Also the Queen is not in charge of the country. The government is.

tiotles? . So what is the Queens position? And why have a government AND a Queen? It is the same as us having a President AND a congress and legislative branch? Pardon my curiousness...but this is all new to me :)
Thanks for your answer
