Yes friends, cricket is seriously a religion in India. it is because cricket is so much followed in India that people even forget to eat their food, go to their work place and even bunk their classes n exams to watch cricket matches either at the stadium or at home.
In fact the gathering at a stadium is much more than at a religious program. This is very much shocking, people go mad and berserk whenever Indian team is playing. i have seen how shops get closed early and roads go empty in my city whenever Indian cricket team plays against any opponent. i have also seen how shops with TV's get flooded with people to see the score of the matches. i seriously salute the love and passion of people towards cricket but it should not get over them completely. One of my aunt said to me that the day Indian team plays any form of cricket be it Test or ODI, she forgets her kitchen duties and sits in front of the TV throughout the day, in fact the day Indian team loses she gets angry and do not talk to anyone. ha ha ha.
What r your thoughts regarding this? R u also crazy about cricket or any other sport? Do u know anyone who is completely mad about any sport? Please do share your thoughts!

I'm very happy that our pathetic team losing to you guys so often has made a lot of people in your country very happy & very patriotic & given them something to do. I'm now thinking that we can maybe offer some cricket merchandise in India & even if we make just 5 cents profit on every item sold, we'd be millionaires in a day!
The fact that India is winning agaist us hasn't really dampened Aussie interest in cricket. In any respect, cricket is an English game & we often prefer to turn our attention to the upcoming AFL (Aussie Rules Footbal) season for which there's a huge (percentage of population-wise) following. We found out long ago that it's a lose-lose game for us whenever we invest so much in international sports, but we always win financially with domestic sports. We can come over there & teach you the game if you wish! We've already trained up a few Russian teams in Russia & a couple of other countries who let us. What else besides cricket do you play in the off-season? Soccer?

Maybe we'll make some money, but not likely as these are poor countries. We just want to share what we have & earn the good wishes of others in the process. This country seems to thrive on being loved everywhere all around the world.

Well yes u are absolutely right, winning and losing are part of every sport and u guys should not give up after this defeat. even our team has lost very badly in the past, it is the just the matter of time and we should understand this thing.
Besides i am glad to know about your venture and i think it is a nice venture and i hope u will make good money and also popularize many sports in your country.

@Deepak2J-
Oh really, well it is absolutely OK if u do not like to watch cricket. There are certain indoor games that r very exciting and fascinating to watch, even i like to watch some indoor games like Badminton, etc which at times gives us exciting finishes. But since indoor games r not that popular in India, may be that is the reason why u watch cricket more than other sports.

Yes u are absolutely right, the craze for cricket has risen to a different level and the victory against the Aussies was special in all sense as this had never happened in the history of Indian cricket before. I hope the craze continues but at the same time Indian team should also keep their spirits high and give us many more reasons to cheer n smile.

In my country it is basketball that is so famous and kids would be playing all day if they want to. The national games are always causing riots but not as crazy how football games are here in Europe.
But when someone is fighting in the boxing rink in the international arena then the whole country stops from whatever it is doing to watch it. Crime rates go down as a matter of fact coz all eyes are just on the TV set while the game is happening. That is why boxing champs in my country are considered national heroes. They even become politicians!

Wow that is great to hear about basketball and boxing. I think it is quite surprising to know that the crime rates go down whenever any boxing match is going on and yes they should be regarded as national heroes after all they r doing so much things for your country. This should be done with all the players. I know even in my country many have turned politicians after they have left their games.

yes it is a religion in india. Infact i myself have bunked school classes to play cricket matches in local tournaments.
People always stop by to see even a local match and when international players come to play over here.. People consider them like gods. They welcome them so warmly

wow dear, r u serious? It is really great to know about you bunking classes to play matches and yes as u have mentioned, people die to get a glimpse of the international players and they have all struggled this way in the lives so there is no issue if someone is following his or her passion. They have so many reasons to smile and i am glad u have done it.

I also think that cricket is a religion in India and most people do watch cricket all the time. I think cricket is one of the sports most people are mad about. They have passion and love to watch cricket all the time. I think most probably no other sports got as popularity as cricket.

Yes cricket is imensely popular in India so much so that players of other sports are getting frustrated with the way this sport has come so far. Many players have confessed that because of this game, many other sports have taken a backseat especially in our country. but whatever may be the case this sport has been widely followed by people and would continue to be followed also.

I am pretty impressed by the spirits! Having such a passion together must be a good feeling.
In fact I know little about cricket. We don't have many cricket facilities in school, at least it is not a common sport in China. Instead, we'd like to play ping pong, badminton and basketball.

Yeah dear cricket has such an influence in our country that people go berserk and crazy if there is any match going on, they stay glued to their televisions and watch it entirely till it gets over.
yeah i know cricket is not much a famous sport in China and i have heard a lot being made to popularize it in China but Badminton and few other sports r also very crazily followed in China.
