On my besides my husband's cousin brother home is making but they says they want to put carpet in place of tiles. Because their budget is low and they feel after two to three years they can change it then may be put tiles. But we all family members feel carpet is also not less costly and carpets for all rooms is not good because early cut due to any reasons like chair moving or table moving etc.
We suggest them tiles is good no problem of changing and cost is not more different between carpet and tiles. What you think our suggestion is good or carpet is good.

We also just bought a new house and is now looking for tiles. We never thought of using carpets because our two huge dogs stays like the masters inside the house. Carpets will collect all their hairs and the dust that they bring from outside. I think that in the long run, using tiles instead of carpets can be more economical.

carpet is made of fabric and is generally placed over the hard surface or tiles. in-place of tiles cheaper alternate is available in market.

I'd prefer tiles because the carpet can accumulate dust which is not good especially if they will be having a baby. And its harder to clean because you will need a dry cleaner or vacuum cleaner. Carpet maybe cheaper but it doesn't last long. They will have to change it then and again.

Honestly I find carpet to be dirty. I am not a fan of carpet. I do prefer tile or hardwood floors. But with a child around they do have some rubber mats that can be put down. They have some with a soft backing and the rubber tiles over over it. They usually interlock. And they are removable as well. That way you can have your tile floor or hardwood.

I would choose tiles or wood instead of carpet any time. It is so much harder to keep carpet clean and sanitary.

the space alone would be a constraint other than that you can feel the warmth of the carpet all the time

hi,
In our previous house our flooring is not good. So we spread carpet there. If the carpet is woolen or of cotton then it is very difficult to clean. But the rubber carpet is a good option for tiles. It is luminous like tiles. Our carpet was so perfectly fitted there that people think that our tiles are marble tiles. It looked like tiles. If we don't afford coastly tiles then we can have carpet. But we have to use it carefully. We can change it after two years.

Tiles are more expensive but all you need to do is mop tiles but carpets you have to wash and clean that that is a trial for a saint. I guess it does depend on what you can afford but whaqt about leaving the floor as it is and mopping it once a week ?

I actually refuse to live with carpets anymore. No matter how much you vacuum or clean them, you aren't getting everything deep down. I just don't see them as hygienic. I would definitely go with tile, personally. At least you know for sure when they are clean or not and they aren't bad for your health, which I believe carpets can be in the long run.

You can be able to clean your house well with just the tiles. The bad thing about a carpet is that it traps dust and if you fail to vacuum everyday, this may cause you some respiratory infections. Besides, if water spills into the carpet, it would be difficult to completely clean it. And if this has not been air dried, it will cause the formation of molds.

Personally, I'm not into carpets since it easily accumulates dust and it's harder to clean. Plus in the long run, the texture of the carpet changes so you have to buy a new one. Unlike tiles, although it may be costly, at least it's just a one-time, bigtime investment :)
