Banana Jam

I am no good at making halwa or toffee that requires precise amount of heating. I either over do it or it is under done. I had a banana bunch and all the bananas were getting ripe all at once. Knowing that I am no good in making halwa a brainwave struck me and I decided to make banana jam instead. My banana jam is ready. Have you had any innovative ideas that came about because of your inefficiency?. Do share.

You appear to be fond of cooking. Have you at any time produced something totally different and yet palatable because of your blunder?

I do sometimes innovative cooking, it happens when I have no concrete ingredients for one recipe , so i used to mix match it and creat a different menu.. ( unknown menu).. I don't mind what it should be called, what really matters to me is the taste ..LOL

I was more interested in knowing how you took care of your blunders and yet came out with something exotic!

I have not tried banana jams, but I think most probably it must be tasting very good. I think it is good to have innovative ideas when it comes to various recipes.

I had to think hard about this one. The only thing that comes to mind was years ago, whilst on our farm, I forgot to give all the boxes of tomatoes to the person to take to seel at the market on our behalf. There was no internet but I did find an old lady who tols me how to make ketchup and I made loads of that plus a few gallons of tomato sauce so that the tomatoes were not spoiled. I have made banana jam with pineapple but that was yonks years ago

Were you able to sell that stuff? Banana and pineapple seems a good combination. I shall try it out next time. Pineapples grow in my garden one or two at a time. This banana bunch was also from my garden.

Ah, my favorite dish of today is the outcome of my inefficiency! In 2008 when I was just restarting to walk again, I had invited my parents over dinner and wanted to cook all by myself. I knew that my bro and his kid loved chowmein(noodles) and my mom and sister in law loved fried rice. So I was preparing both the dishes. Somewhere, I started feeling bad and ill again. And as I had strictly asked my beloved wife not to assist me she was doing her studies (she was preparing for her MTech entrance those days) and so I did not want to disturb her either. So what I did was - a mix of noodles and rice along with all the additional stuff - the vegetables, the chicken into one dish. I was at the start unhappy that I could not deliver what I had planned, but then, when they all relished the stuff which was prepared, and I too loved that taste, I thought, why not convert it into a regular diet for me Much Later, I found that this was not something out of the world that I did and there were restaurants serving this kind of dish though the servings were different. Today, I enjoy this dish (mix) at least once a week if not more. It is also easy to prepare as I always have something or the other as leftovers these days and there are many days when I dont want to cook everything just for me.

Wow!! This is the kind of response I was hoping for. Because of our inefficiency many a time something new and better crops up and you have amply proved it and to think that such a recipe in fact exists in big restaurant that is the icing on the cake! The idea of making banana jam was because I never have the patience to make halva. I prepared this jam this morning and it has turned out yummy.

That does not augur well for you as everyone these days must equip themselves with the knack of cooking. I suggest that you start making tea or coffee and that is how I began.

I m a very good and innovative cook. There have many such occasions where I serve 'MAKE SHIFT' dishes and I am told they are great. There are so many occasions of inefficiency and dishes that I really need to rack my brains to recall and share.

Hi, You can make halwa of banana by adding some boiled potatoes. It tastes very delicious. My wife learned this from her student Puja. I like that halwa very much.

You have not followed my topic. What I have said there is because I have no patience I made jam and whether because of your inefficiency whether you too have produced anything.
