feeling unwell

Since last Thursday, i wasn't feeling well. I have an itchy throat and a heavy feeling.
I chopped a small piece of ginger and chew it and just let it stay in my mouth. It was effective, because the hoarse voice toned down.
But the cough persisted so i absented myself from work until today. I rested but can't help myself from peeping in here. I already have a colds too. But i don't have a fever. Maybe it's the heat outside when you go out, considering that at the office, the air conditioner is so cool. It's what made me have this.
I already took an antibiotic , one that was prescribed to me took when i had this also. I am hopeful that after 3 days from now, i will be fine and be able to report to work already, because it is a 3 day antibiotic.
Truly, when one gets sick everything gets into a halt, because you have to take a rest and not do anything taxing.
It's not a nice feeling.

I can very well understand that as I have been ill since 2000. And yes, though it is more serious than the cold and cough but still, I can understand when you are ill, nothing seems to get going your way!
I would blame your cough and cold to the sudden atmospheric changes you are subjected to - as you say in and out of air conditioned rooms into the hot climate outside. I do hope that you have consulted a doctor and pray that you do get well sooner than you expect.
Take care dear.

Hi sids, it's nice to see you here today.
Indeed , this hot climate is a factor in getting coughs and colds. Even our laundrywoman has it.
I haven't been to a doctor. It's the same as my previous one last year, so i bought the same antibiotic which is what the doctor prescribed that time.

You seemed to go down with upper respiratory tract infection. The person who stays too long in an air-conditioned office is prone to get it.Hope you will soon feel better.I usually use Traditional Chinese Medicine, if I am not quite myself. For example,I use the decoction made from brown sugar and ginger to treat the common cold due to wind-cold.

At first i thought it was ordinaty cough with colds. But it seemed my breathing isn't good anymore so i decided to see a doctor. Thus, it was discovered i have pneumonia.
But i have now recovered , thanks to the medicines that were prescribed.

it's ironic, isn't it, to get a cold in the scorching heat of summer? but yes, it's usually caused by getting in and out of airconditioned transportation and buildings.
i do take as much liquids as i can when i have a cold (and cough) but it's so annoying having to pee every 10 minutes!
you're just like my mother when it comes to hilot and massages. she can give them, but she would never have them because. she claims they make her feel even worse afterwards! so now i know she's not the only person like that.
it's good your daughter is around to take care of you.

Hmm, lack of sleep yes, but too much of good times, no. It was just once in a while.

Yes, going in and out from an airconditioned place to one that is not , can really make one sick.
But i think, my immune system went down because i haven't been exercising and eating veggies the past days prior to that .
She came home just recuperating from fever , cough and colds. But she said her cough isn't as severe as mine.

I think with all of what you are feeling or suffering...it is simply to take a rest in order for you to be relieved from it.

Yes, it isn't a nice feeling when you're sick.
Unfortunately, my situation is where I can't put everything to a halt when I'm not feeling well. I still have to go to work, do my chores, and run my errands. Like you, I depend on quick-acting medicines.
Hope you're feeling better now.

It was pneumonia that hit me, bounce . The doctor discovered that when i decided to consult him. I had my chest x-ray and that's the findings.
I am recovering fast now. In fact, i reported to work now.
Thank you.

Hi SIMPLYD,
From what you've described I think you have a simple case of sore throat due perhaps to the hot weather or some stuff that you've eaten which affected the lining of your throat.
Actually you do not need to take antibiotics as you may get immune to them if you take them whenever you get a sore throat. What you could do is to gargle with some warm water with a little bit of salt in it. Do it several times a day (as often as you can). You'll find that in a couple of days (or less) your sore throat will get better and you'll be on your way to a good recovery.
Of course getting sufficient rest and drinking plenty of clean water will help.
Have a nice day.

It's not just sore throat my friend. It has dry cough and colds eventually.
The antibiotic is for my coughs and i drank mucolytic with it too. Also i always drink lots of water.
I am a bit better now, although i still have a dry cough and colds.

Well, I am from the physical point of view, at the moment I do not have to report any discomfort.
Unfortunately, my mental state is not good!
I live badly every day because of my illness diagnosed as DOC (obsessive compulsive disorder).
In addition to this I, at home I'm afraid of my younger brother, who often uses me with bullying and arrogance. Sometimes I would cry, but I do not do it just for the fact that I am a man!
Maybe there is a solution for my health?

I think you should consult a specialist of your being DOC. And your parents should address the bullying of your younger brother.
So why do you allow your younger brother on the first place, to bully you, my friend?

Hey, I actually just had that very same symptoms. Fortunately for me, I took an over-the-counter cough syrup to soothe my cough. It has been 6 days. Phlegm soon took the place of my dry and itchy throat. But now it's dry again. It still feels itchy sometimes but it's more manageable. Luckily, I didn't have to take any antibiotics and I hope that I get well enough to not take anymore. Get well soon and take it easy, ok? Godspeed!

I think i am getting okay now. It's just that once in a while i still have very dry cough, so i have to buy a mucolytic. Now, my colds are are stuffing my nose and i have to blow a lot of them out.

Ginger is truly an effective herbal medicine. I have read some of its benefits.
I hope you soon get well soon. It is really difficult to get sick because everything seems to stop and then you will find yourself with heavy backlogs when it comes to work.

hi simplyd Are you taking your multi vitamin daily?.
this year I started taking a more potent multi vitamin and though I had two colds they were over in three days each. Last winter I had a cold that turned into flu, bronchitis and finally bronchial pneumonia so the difference in multi vitamins I really think has kept me well this winter a lot better.I hope you are soon well an d over this as its really so hard on ones body. I spent three months last winter just being ill.November December and January.

Yes, Ms. Hatley, i religiosly take my vitamins. It's just that maybe the heat here in the Philuppines since it's already summer is really too much to handle.
Inside the office it would be so cold but once you go out you can feel the heat as it blow into your face.
Really, 3 months that you were sick? What was it all about?
