last month, i accompanied my cousin to un avenue in manila to get an nbi clearance as a requirement for his work. he's not that familiar with manila because he's from the province. we arrived there at around 10am. i just stayed in the waiting area because i was not allowed but the nbi staff.
at about 1230pm i was surprised because he was actually holding his receipt. he had a "hit" so we'll have to return after a week.
i still remember almost two years ago, i arrived at 10 am and finished the whole process for my nbi clearance at almost 5 in the afternoon. yes, 7 miserable hours.
and with the current 2-3 hours of process, it really is a great improvement. well i guess there's still hope for our country.

There is certainly an improvement in getting an nbi clearance... i can attest to that... i tried applying for a clearance online... it is like 50 php more expensive... but save a lot of time... because when i went there... it took me only around 30 minutes to get my official receipt... i also have a hit... but when i came back... it was a lot faster...
I also noticed that the processing for walk in applicants is a lot faster... the lines is not that long unlike before... hopefully this will continue... or they will improve more...

I have experienced it too years ago. If I remember it right it took me 5 hours to finish as a first timer applicant. Renewing it is a bit easy because you won't line up where the first timer does. I think it's easier to apply at the main office rather than their branches, because all approvals comes from their main office. I think the processing had improved a bit now.

What I mean of renewal is, you will present your old clearance that had expired. You gave the old one so that you would not be lining up to the lines reserved for new applicants. The steps for renewal is lessen, so you could finish it more faster.
Did you mean, all applicants will go to the same process even you already have but had expired.

yes, you have to apply like it's your first time again. there are no special lines for renewal. you just have to present a valid id because you will use it to validate your information. old nbi clearance can be used for that purpose.

there's no renewal of nbi clearance now. you have to reapply for a new one when it expires.

I also had the same dilemma 7 years ago when I need to have my NBI clearance for my call center application. I didn't expect it to be that long. Good thing that I was with my friend all the time. At least he kept me company.

it's really tiring to fall in that long line. but you really have no choice since it's a requirement.

That is good to hear. Here in the province it is also fast. Though, you have to line so it will be orderly.
I remember my boss lining up just to get an NBI clearance, because the person applying should be in person. She is the signatory of a contract with Pagcor for our E-Games so she really have to get an NBI clearance in order for us to renew our license.
she said it was so hot lining up.

it really is hot especially now since it's summer. you have to bring water so you won't dehydrate and a lot of patience.

Well, it is an improvement but it is also a hassle for your cousin that he has to go back at another day to claim his clearance. I hope that they improve their services once more, as I know that as of this writing, there's no renewal yet. Everything is like applying for the first time due to some system changes.

actually it was for two weeks since it's the holy week. well, i also wish there would be more improvement in the future.
the renewal maybe done online i guess since all they have to do is update the status of the people and if cleared they could just print it there.

Hi,
Maybe you chanced upon a time when there were not much waiting clients, it was one of those times when a lull in the volume of waiting to get their clearance processed hit the low marks. In my place, you had to go at three in the morning and the waiting line is already long, people actually slept there on the doorstep of the office to get the early numbers. The government should look into this.
