circumcision of boys during summer

my mom works in the barangay and she has invited some of the kids in our place for the free circumcision. the kids already registered last week with their parents and they will push through with the operation this weekend.
i remember i was circumcised by a doctor the summer i was about to enter the 6th grade. my cousin went through the "pukpok" or traditional procedure of circumcision. i admit i was scared of that so i chose to do it with a doctor.

i'm sorry but isn't it that too old? the kids today usually do it at 10-15 years old.

nothing wrong with that. it's just that i'm ashamed to be circumcised when that part has become that mature. i hope you know what i mean.

well, it was a life changing experience. the doctor who did that to me is quite funny that's why i was able to loosen up. the surgery lasted for only a couple of minutes. but my "tool" got "kamatis".

well it's really normal to get "kamatis". it's not really life-threatening. i remember i used the guava leaves to was the wounds.

My 2 nephews just had a circumcision few days ago, they're 9 and 5 yrs old. They were accompanied by their mom and dad(my brother)in the hospital. It took 30 mins to an hour for the procedure. Their parents said they dint cry during the procedure only cried when the anaesthesia wear off. i greeted them with a big laugh and said brave boys!

wow 5 years old undergoing circumcision? i know it happens in other countries when babies are circumcised. but here, boys are circumcised when they are 10-12 years old.

It is really a common thing for boys to do it in summer. Soon enough, we will see boys wearing 'saya' of their mother and holding front of it so that it will not stick or touch to their circumcised manhood.

boys wearing saya is really a funny sight. but i don't see it anymore. even when i was circumcised 15 years ago, i didn;t wear a skirt. just loose shorts is enough.

I think it is a good idea, your mother gives free circumcision in summer, because most of kids get their holidays in summer. You and your mother are very kind. it was not actually my mom. it was a project of our barangay. my mom's just the messenger.

Oh I just miss assisting circumcision in barangays during summer. It is really fun. You will see kids screaming, others are "deadma", and you will see very supportive parents holding off their son so they can't move during the operation.

I was told the 'traditional' way of circumcision, aside from being painful, also involves some risk of infection. I myself opted to undergo this 'manly ritual' with a doctor. I think nowadays, with the anesthesia and stuff, it's somewhat painless already, even after undergoing such. Well, I'm hoping this is true since my kid is due for circumcision next year.

i asked the kids who went through the operation. they said it was quite painless. there's nothing to worry about especially if it's done with a doctor.
It is better to just go to the doctor since it is much safer and i thin there is no pain at all. @iluvusabado (2560)

well, the doctors use anesthesia so you will not feel anything during the operation. but after a while, you will eventually feel the pain.

My 3 sons had theirs from a hospital. I was not with them when they had theirs done. It was my mom who was with my two older sons and my brother in law with my third son. I just didn't want to hear my sons in pain.

Yes, summer is the time for circumcision of boys. That's because they have time to recuprate.

the healing process usually takes one week so it's usually done during summer.
