It is really depressing to work when your effort is not appreciated...

Good day Fellow Mylotters, There is a saying goes that you cannot please everybody. But, it is more depressing when your efforts are not even appreciated. Hence, it is like putting your work in a trash since nobody appreciate it. That, sometimes it is not the salary that you received but it is more on the commendation that they give, to the work that you have rendered.

sometimes bosses do not say anything to their employees unless it is to criticize them. if your superiors aren't doing this, that means they are satisfied with your work. you will surely hear from them if they think you're not doing your job well.

honestly, i was somehow inspired with what you have posted because, among the so many officers involve in the association, it is only the president who keeps on criticizing my work. so in this regard, i am thinking that majority of the officers are contented with the output that i am giving.

yes, keep doing the duties assigned to you and don't mind the opinions of others. you can't please everybody. if the president's criticisms are constructive, then try to follow his lead. i'm sure you'll learn from him too.

Thank guys for this, now it gave me more understanding why my supervisor is so passive in giving appreciation. Your opinions just affirms that I did most of the time the correct job. Now, I'm at ease having been affirmed with your opinions.

Hi airasheila. You make a wonderful point there. I totally agree with you. It is not only true for professional work but the same goes for other kind of works like household works. You can imagine now how our mothers might feel when we never appreciated their hard work they put to grow us up. So I think it is a very good habit if we at least say thank you or acknowledge people for their effort that they put in. Anyways have a nice day !! SuperShames

Hi there SuperShames, Indeed, saying thank you is a good practice. In this way, you are giving a simpler way of appreciating ones work. And I do religiously say "thank you". Although this word is not too big but it gives a big meaning to those who received it.

Companies should focus more on how to boost their employee morale. It's sad sometimes when companies only think of the monetary compensation as reward for their employees work. They must know more than that.

I know how that feels, and to be honest it is enough to dampen one's drive to work harder and better. But then, we must realize that we are there to work and earn money. As long as we are being paid fairly, treated fairly and we still get to have a life after work, then we should be fine. We can work out on the affirmation and appreciation part come evaluation time.

Hi Raine38, Honestly, the company where I am doing an offline job, is not a big company. Hence, it is just a type of an office where it runs by a private home owners association. So the salary that I am getting here is not that big though it can serve as an allowance. And that is fine with me, but, most often times, I am thinking, the salary is not too high and yet the President is not treating me fairly. Thus, he is very unappreciative and unapproachable.

Hi Ai ! I understand what you are feeling , psychology can explain it ! One of the needs of human being is to be appreciated and approved ! Life would be more meaningful if small things we are doing are recognized . It boost our self esteem and increases our self confidence. Approval and appreciation are just small things but once given it gives a big impact to our being. It's not only kids who needs it but also the adult ones , i guess for everybody ! Don't worry friend , later they will be able to see you and your worth , believe me it will happen.. Cheers !

Yeah, you are right. sometimes, even if we do our best, still our effort is still not appreciated. We are just seen and our attention has just been called when we do something wrong.In short, our fault is more seen than our effort. Life is so unfair sometimes.

H iairasheila, Again I have been there and done that.It is hard doinging your deeds and duties both at home and work or even elsewhere and they are overlooked and not appreciated.It know it is hard, but try to keep in mind that both you and God know what good you are doing.That will get you through the day while you are looking for another job that you are appreciated at.Also maybe you should note that on your resume as something that you expect. Hello airasheila. I understand that it is really depressing to work if your effort is unappreciated. I have the same feeling and I am having it now. My boss only wants me to achieve every success for the school, but has never really considered offering my wife a good job in the school. I asked for an easy job for my wife as a school librarian, but in vein. It makes me feel depressed and the bad mood affects my working attitude. Although I have earned a lot of good reputation for the school, I am not fully appreciated, which makes me upset...

I agree. appreciation is more than the salary you receive, it's priceless..it serves as motivation for us to go to the office everyday despite of hardship and tiredness. I hope our bosses should understand and realize the importance of appreciation and its effect..

Yes friend, I agree with you. We feel happy when our job get a good appreciation than just money. Because it means people respect to us and consider that we are important. But, we have to realize that it is not easy get a good appreciation, because there are many factors that influence it.
