I was reading an article a friend sent me, my doctor kept saying for me to drink milk because of the oseteoporosis I have.
I can't stand milk, it turns my stomach. When I was in the Dominican I loved their milk (and I was told it wasn't cows milk - don't want to know what it is).
Do you think milk is that healthy?
I had a friend the other day post on Facebook how bad milk was, I never clicked on it was I was in a hurry. Now I wish I did, but she keeps posting about how it's so bad, and the process. I sent her a message to see if I could get the link.

aside from the occasional "cafe macchiato" (espresso coffee laced with a small amount of milk), i don't drink milk. i know that milk has plenty of nutrients that are needed by our body but these can also be found on cheeses. i opt to eat a slice of cheese rather than drink milk.

I can't take too much milk also, or else I will spit it out. Maybe processed milk have some thing to say about the bad image of milk, like putting preservative in it, we know that it has something bad to our health. But just Milk itself, a lot of good things that our body needs.

Back then my dad used to rear goats and we used to drink goat's milk milked by my dad. I never had any problem after drinking goat's milk. But when I drink cow's milk from the market, it usually turns my stomach too. Even the tea/coffee made of cow's milk gives me trouble. So unless I see that it's milked from the animal with my own eyes, I am not gonna drink milk again. I guess they put chemicals to preserve the milk which in turn cause trouble in your stomach.

Yes, I think milk is healthy because it's provide nutrition and minerals. I have consumed milk daily since i was little and now I'm still trying to drink milk regularly...
I ever tried not to drink milk in 2 weeks and it causing some joints disease to me.. and I realize that one of my big resource of calcium is by drinking milk, so now I try to drink it regularly. But if you have another resource substituting milk, it's no problem at all...

I don't drink milk but I eat foods that have milk as one of the main ingredients. Between cow's or any other animal milk and soya milk, I would choose to drink soya milk for my calcium needs. I do take calcium supplement from pure milk. Drinking milk is proven to combat osteoporosis and other disease caused by lack of calcium.

You probably had goat milk in the Dominican. You can get goat milk in major supermarkets in 1 litre cartons. You might want to try that, but I think it's more expensive.

If there's an "organic" or "healthfood" section in the store, you could find it there, but I rarely look there, so I'm pretty sure it's available in the regular milk section.

I definitely think that it all depends on what kind of milk that we are drinking and how the milk was produced that all plays a factor in how healthy the milk is for us. I don't think that most factory farmed milk is that good for us because most animals on big time corporation farms are treated incredibly unhumane and are treated with growth hormones and antibiotics.
I've noticed a big difference in what kind of milk it is that I am drinking and I think that the dairy part of milk that has been pasteurized is what makes our stomachs upset after we drink milk. I've drank whole milk that was minimally pasteurized and it doesn't really even make my stomach feel upset at all. Whereas the cheap milk that I can actually afford all the time usually does make me feel a little weird whenever I drink it. Other milk that doesn't give me problems are coconut, almond, or rice milk. They don't have any lactose or dairy in them so they don't give you any kind of allergic symptoms like regular milk from cows do.
A weird thing that not many of us know is that the United States and only a few other countries are really the only ones that regularly consume milk. Many people's bodies aren't really accustomed to milk and I think that is why we often have allergic like reactions to milk that isn't produced as well as it could be.

If Doctor advice you to drink milk then you must think that milk is necessary for you and doctor knows better then the stupid folks around internet. Milk contain calcium which is good for body and for new born baby the milk is only which lend his growth so i dont think that milk is bad .
In some cases doctor advice to not take milk may be in some kind diseases like allergic to calcium or what but i drink milk everyday without it its hard for me to reach my protein and calcium needs.

If that's what your doctor says, then find another doctor who disagrees totally! Plenty of them around. Milk leaches calcium & a ton of other vitamins from your body. See my response & boycott the poison.

Milk is a good source of Protein , and Calcium and some other nutrients. It is a good antacid for it coats the lining of the mucosa .It is a good sleep stimulant. it makes skin shiny . Let drink milk in the morning , snack time and in the bedtime.

for several centuries humans are consuming cows milk. now recently there have been claims that humans should not drink cows milk as the milk which cows give are meant only for cows and not for humans. but i would say one thing there will always be reports of do this, do that........but i would always do only what i feel is right. ii have been drinking milk since my childhood and i have no problems, infact i am very healthy, so whats wrong in drinking milk. afterall i have read a report saying that even there are some toxic substances ocasionaly found in human mothers milk. so after reading that report can i conclude that mothers mild is not good for health, certainly not. i would always say dont believe in reports, instead believe from your own experience or from your friends experience. if drinking milk doesnt suit your body dont drink but if you feel good in drinking milk you should definitely dring it. afterall the decision to dink milk is yours am i right

yes absolutely, because nowadays behind every report there a motive. which might be political, economic....in those days reports will be published to guide people. but now a days due to economic motivation several reports rather than guide us tend to misguide us. i am not making a sweeping statement here. yes even today there are many reports which are published with true intentions. but many are still published with economic motive behind them. so i would ask every one to go by what your mind says rather than what a report says.

I do agree with you, nowadays people seem to be guided by some reports without their own opinions. I think people should follow their own mind and determine in the right way rather than listen to those reports.

For some people milk is bad, others it is good. I bet it was goats milk in the Dominican Republic. My family does well with milk.

Well, the milk in general, is a good aliment. However, there are some people who have a kind of "allergy" to milk, pretty much it hurts their stomach.
They are, however, rare cases.
I would say the milk I drink about half a liter per day. To me it does not hurt, even when I drink it at night, it helps me get to sleep.
I speak still of classic cow's milk. Goat's milk instead as I know very little. (Better to say: I do not know anything!)

I also have osteoporosis. I have to drink milk. If I don't drink it I eat yogurt a couple of times a day. I also want more cheese to eat. I'm not crazy about milk but I do drink it plain and with chocolate in it.

It sounds like you may be lactose-intolerant. You may want to try vegetables rich in calcium instead like broccoli. Otherwise I have heard that some people unable to take cow's milk are able to take goat milk instead. But still I feel vegetables are best, the human body after all is different from cow or goat which is what animal milk is tailored for.

I went to the bre*st clinic for check up. I was told by the doctor that milk is the culprit of bre*st cancer and she advices us not to consume it. However, I do not know how far is it true but she is a gynecologist. So, I just take her advice.
