My grandma smacked the kid

I am laughing over this, even my Dad is sitting here laughing. We get a call from a strange number, I happen to walk by and answer it.
The cops were calling saying they have my 85 year old grandmother at the police station. That someone has to come get her, so i give the phone to my Mom (seeing as it's her mother).
She was out grocery shopping and some kid was going around throwing things on the ground stomping on it, ripping things open, licking things. My Grandmotehr said something to the kid, he kept doing it, so she went and said something to the mother, she did nothing, so my grandmother went over smacked him and pulled him off the veggies he was throwing around.
Well this mother went bonkers, and called the cops on her. The motehr of this kid pushed, and kicked my grandmother on the ground. So here my parents sent me to go pick her up, seeing as I knew the cop.
My grandmother fought back, and the cop said she can do a number on this lady. So my Grandmother press charges, as their were store workers who said all that happened. What I got out of it they didn't have enough to charge my grandmother. The workers didn't see my grandmother smack the kid, or anything, but the woman claims she did (honestly I can see my grandmother doing all that).

if your grandma did that then i salute her. some kids really need to get a good spanking nowadays. their paraents just allow them to do these things because they hate confrontations. they don't realise that they'll have a hard time with them if they are not disciplined while they are still young. actually, your grandma should have spanked the mom too...LOL

I said that well I said the mother should get a smack.
I really find it annoying shopping and seeing kids pulling veggies apart, or throwing things on the ground. I wont buy it, I've walked out of a few stores in the past because of this.
But when my grandmother day and age they use to beat the kids down. So she doesn't see an issue with it.
Some kids do need a swift kick, or else it will just get worse and the parents will complain.

My sister in law and I and my husband and brother went on a riverwalk boat ride in Oklahoma City. There was this kid that was about seven who kept heckling the boat driver. Driver was doing a good job and ignoring him. Mom and Dad just thought he was precious. My sister in law and I were so tempted to each grab him by an ankle and drag him through the water. I have seen kids I would love to deal with in that way.

And, most likely, the store workers "didn't see" your grandmother smack the kid because they all wanted to do it themselves. I'm sure there was more than one person there who wanted to.

That's what I thought I've gone to Walmart with her, and she's gone over and smacked kids, and rip things out of their hand like one was licking all the apples and putting them back.
I just thought it was funny, of course she sees nothing wrong with how she handled it haha.

Of course she sees nothing wrong with it. She was raised in a time when all adults had dominion over children. When I was a kid, I not only had to mind my parents, but my grandparents and aunts and uncles, too, not to mention the neighbors.

It sounds like the kid deserved it and the mother should have been the one to take care of the brat! If the mother would have disciplined her child your grandmother would not have had to!!

Thanks for the chuckle! I didn't mean to laugh but I couldn't help it. I'm surprised she didn't get on the news! Remember some old guy who smacked a baby on a plane? That made the news big time. But this is different. I don't blame your grandma.

It sounds like that kid wanted smacking.
Anyway, if the mother assaulted your grandmother, she could be in at least as much trouble as your grandmother for smacking the kid. Maybe both sides should just forget the whole thing.

In all honesty she probably did but I am glad she's getting off for it because the kid needs to be taught a lesson. I would not be a very happy employee if all that was happening at my store and I'd have to remove myself before I yelled at the kid.
I wouldn't smack them but I'd be damn well sure I tore the food out of their hand, picked them up and removed them from the situation.

Sounds like the kid needed smacking. Why didn't the store employees stop the child from destroying their produce? Both the child and his mother should have been put out of the store.

I am so happy that yout grandmother did not get charged. I think that perhaps the workers did see her but did not want to see her charged. Who should be charged is the mother who pushed her down and hurt her. That lady is seriously dysfunctional

Nothing better then a fiesty old lady. God Bless your dear grandma. I can't believe that the mom was doing nothing to control that brat. I can't believe that anyone would push a old lady to the ground like that and kick her. This mom has alot of problems and has no respect for anyone. I'm glad that the store clerks didn't see your grandma slap that brat. This is the problem with the kids today. The parents don't dicipline so they are producing the next generation of criminals. I'm glad your mom was released and she was not charged with anything.

I just so agree with you lelin. They have stopped corporal punishment in our schools for some years out here but when I first came here no child would dare complain to their parents if the teacher gave them a slap on the hand with a ruler because they get a worse beating at home. I am not talkiing about child abuse but sometimes a quick slap will jolt the child into behaving

I'm glad no one saw a thing. It means there still are people willing to stick up for rights even if the law sees it wrong. What kind of a person would fight an elderly woman? This person will not get respect as she ages because she never learned it herself. I truly believe what goes around comes around.

I am sure that the employees seen what happened. If he was destroying their things, she probably just did what they would have liked to do. After the mother acted the way she did, not one of them was going to say anything that would incriminate your grandmother.

Parents today turn a blind eye to their children's behavior. They feel that they were model children who were 'beaten' all the time by their parents rather than acknowledging many times, they deserved it! Your grandma was merely 'disciplining' an out-of-control child when she was attacked by his mother. I'm sure that many people sided with your grandma-and wished they had the guts to do what she did!

I think your grandmother is my new hero! I can't stand when kids do that. I don't let my son do crap like that. A lot of today's children are spoiled brats because parents don't parent. I would have never done that as a kid. I think your grandmother just did what a lot of people probably wanted to do, but wouldn't dear for fear of having the cops called on them. I can't believe that woman hurt your grandmother. Even if she did what they said she did, she should have been a parent and got after her kid so your grandmother didn't have to! I grew up being told to respect my elders. I like kids, but I can't tolerate brats.

Some children are asking to be smacked. But, it must be also said, some mothers are asking to be smacked. That mother should be taught how to raise her son. And it is a pity that lately children have all sorts of rights but do not have any duties. Thus, they can do anything they wish and missbehave in public places as this brat did. Good for your grandmother!

Cant say i blame your grandmother.
I would have done the same thing that just drives me crazy when you go in a store and the parent lets the kids go to the toy aisle and just play and open toys like they are at home.
Dont they know someone has to pay for these items that they are letting their kids destroy.
But glad to hear your grandmother is doing good!
