Straightening your hair is okay if you do it occasionally, but if you do it on a daily basis, well definitely it will burn your roots and can cause stiffness of the hair and worse, split ends. It’s also not advisable to straight your hair while it is damp or wet. Before putting heat on your hair, you should moisturize it or put hair cream. I know this because I have a friend who works in a Hair Salon.

Yes of course.. what would you do to straighten it anyway? My sister uses this iron thing to straighten her hair every morning, so it made her hair quite thin and very damaged.. but it looks nice and straight from afar. if you rebond it, i guess it's okay.. for a few months.

Hello and welcome to mylot :). In short, yes. But it depends on how are you straightening it. The irons tend to thin the hair because they damage the cuticle, which means the hair becomes weaker and looks less healthy. The chemicals will burn your roots making your hair look and feel dry, sometimes even slowing the growth enough to leave noticeable areas. All of the options will also make your hair more curly too, which will mean you will have to straight it again and again until you give up. In the end you will spend a lot more money and time repairing the damage your hair will sustain than enjoying your new look.
