i got into it once and got burned. i wasted both time and money. even though, i knew it would be a scam (because i think MLM's are) i signed up with one just to say i tried and prove myself wrong. i was right, it was called Melaluca and it was a scam. no one wanted to buy those high priced products every month and become a member. the only people that make money in mlm are the criminals at the very top of the pyramid. this is what i have been hearing and this is what i have personally experience. i even hear that mlm could be illegal, because they are like a ponzi scheme. i don't know. i have been in to making money online for some years now, but i could be wrong about all of this. have any of you every experience and mlm? if so, have you ever made any money from it? share your experience good or bad. thanks

I was involved in MLM before as well as financial networking and franchise marketing (similar to MLM/networking concept). I truly agree with you that it is always those at top of the pyramid are making tons of money. So, in the end everything becomes zero and I will never join those means of making money anymore !
I lost the most money on these so called financial investment in networking and franchise marketing (dealing with products). I did earn some profits in the initial months but eventually the company was closed. I could not even get back my capital. . I had learnt a hard lesson from there.

MLMs are all scams.. so many scams online theses days that you wonder who is deceiving who.. people say they make money online .. how much , you make cents online and you deceive people to buy books for nothing..
I just wonder to what a world we are living in..

Or pyramid marketing, where the people at the top get richer and the people at the bottom get poorer, I got roped into one of the MLM businesses, it was selling a product that was highly priced, but it was risk free for me, because my sponsor paid for me, but I never made a cent out of it, what happens, my sponsor gets burnt as they have invested a lot of money, but don't see anything in return, I was so glad that I didn't invest, and it was my sponsors money, but even so I felt so sorry for them because they put so much time, energy and money into it. It taught me a valuable lesson about these types of marketing ploys.

i have heard of people trying to pierce through the purple veil of MLM by buying their members in. this doesn't work either. you're right.

@wolfie.. yes friend many people fail with MLM because without learning they jump to it and as it requires paying each month if you do not know how to earn with the program or not good at marketing so you are able to recruit people within a short period of time you will fail eventually, again if your product is not necessary for doing business people will not continue...so a sponsors first duty is to help their downline earn using the product they get and at the same time share all the truths relating to the business and set some goals and again help their downline with tips to fulfill that goals..and most importantly the product..for me I know this MLM I have selected is one paying for more than ten years to their affiliates..some people are not using their affiliate plan but only using their products to have their online presence as they are giving domain name, hosting, wordpress blog hosting, domain redirection, private emails.. which everyone of us require to do online business...

I am sorry to hear your experience about MLM opportunity but what I want to say is that MLM is one of the topmost ways to make good amount of passive money monthly for doing some work initially.Because MLM is based on number of people you can recruit to the same program you work with and they often operate on matrix basis so you are paid on several levels.I am working with one of the best MLM company which have got a nice payplan along with products that we require everyday for online business and are trusted company paying to their members since years..mean more than ten years. This company offers domain name, hosting, emails, sitebuilder, blog hosting etc for a subscription and they pay $1 each month for all those accounts you bring to them and five levels deep.My target is to fill my matrix of 6x5 so I can earn my dream income of $9330 per month once it is done.
Now most people will laugh and ask how it is possible to fill such a matrix all alone..actually it is here that most people fail because they try to fill the entire matrix themselves...and sometime follow wrong advices about MLM programs.
The truth is with my one I need to find only six like minded people like me who want to earn that dream income working online and they are ready to work for some time to fulfill these dreams..what next once I find these six people I need to help them and train them to do the same and when this is done in a regulated way you will see profit in time.I will work hard for even more than two years to fill the matrix to earn the dream income because I know this program is going to stay there and is trusted one..Thats it..

I have an opposite experience with MLM. Maybe you're right, it is very hard to make money with MLM, especially with those old type MLMs whose products and compensation plan are almost obsolete.
I am involved with an MLM company right now whose products are easy to promote, and the compensation plan for members are easy to achieved. It's a binary comp plan, and in our experience and observation, binary plans offer easier way for new members to earn and recoup their investment, unlike with those old stair step plans.
I suggest you don't totally close yourself to MLM opportunities. Bad experience with a certain MLM company does not mean "all MLMs are bad." There are some good ones, and I found one.

that is really good that you are making money with an MLM. to me the "new" kind of MLM seems to be the old one with a bad make over. keep up the good work though.

You know MLM does not work for 99% of participants because MLM is mathematically designed so only the top 1% of participants even make a profit.Work it out on paper.Keep in mind, because the commissions paid out are so high(to the top 1%),the price of the product involved has to be so expensive that it becomes impossible to resell as a distributor.

what you are saying here is true. when i was with melaluca their membership and their product prices were high.
